Sorry to all the other nations in the world from Canada

Our government is doing nothing agains't the climat change and our environnement minister really said stupid shit about their actions at the united nations conference.

It's a shame to be Canadian :disgust

notabook 11-15-2006 07:27 PM

Global warming = fake, nothing to worry about.

Spunky 11-15-2006 07:29 PM

Much more bigger nations aren't doing shit either

TripleXencoding 11-15-2006 07:30 PM

Global warming is a joke. Just like the coming ice age was, and the ozone layer scare, not to mention the greenhouse effect blah blah blah. Its all bullshit to get scientists their grants.

studiocritic 11-15-2006 07:32 PM

global warming is being blown SO out of proportion.. there are cycles on earth. period.

there are too many points against the argument to go into detail here..

but religion is to the right as the environment is to the left.. its their "common goal".. every group of idiots needs one.

There's very little to be sorry for. Many nations jumped on signing the Kyoto Accord for face value without thinking over the actual implementation and effects it would have.

I support proper environment responsibility but I also support realistic decisions and goals. There's a new treaty going around that may be more realistic and is being looked into by Australia and a few others.

studiocritic 11-15-2006 07:44 PM

sadly, with a democrat controlled congress we'll probably vote to sign it now.. so much BS.

Braincash Fred 11-15-2006 07:49 PM

I hope you all guys joking right???

Global warming is not a scam or some bullshit invented to make money. It has also nothing to do with earth climat cycle. No need to be a scientist to see that the planet is going fuck up.... an there's not a single scientist in the world that claim it's not happening because of human.

Get this movie: http://www.amazon.com/Inconvenient-T...?ie=UTF8&s=dvd

If you can't afford it, let me know.

I agree with you but tell that you have a plan for lower level by 2050 and refusing to help to create a CO2 echange market is not something I consider trying to do something to make it better...

LiveDose 11-15-2006 07:56 PM

Apology accepted. As payback please send some of your hotties south.

Thank you.

GooSearch 11-15-2006 07:56 PM

That's what I'd like to believe. But to be proven wrong means another ice age or getting an unscheduled trip to OZ via the mode of transporation that took that girl whats-her-name and her dog

Soil errosion, deforrestation causing us to lose all our O2, ozone layer disappearing and us all dying of skin cancer, the hurricanes getting worse this year, a new ice age, blah blah blah blah blah. Everyone believed everyone one of those just as much as Global warming now. Say BAH BAH lol.

The tempeture is 1 degree higher over the last 100 years... can you say asphalt and urban sprawl? Pollution was WAY worse in the 70's and 80's so why wasnt it hotter then? :winkwink:

global cooling

Now not saying that gobal worming is not real but I do question when until the mid 70s they were calling for global cooling and now its global warming.

Good news: The Antarctic ozone hole didn't get any bigger this year.

Indeed, the ozone layer may even be in better shape.

this guy typed out everything i didn't feel like arguing.

compare temperatures (in the same 100 square mile area) where there are huge concrete office buildings, paved streets, etc.. to where there is just an open field.

those kind of changes affect the ambient temperature 10 degrees+.. now we're "wondering" how the earth got 1F hotter?

hi.. urbanization?

Sly 11-15-2006 08:21 PM

I'm with a lot of the guys in this thread.

I do feel we need to take much better care of our environment, if anything for aesthetic purposes, the animals, and just proper efficiency. But destroying an economy for the sake of appeasing science that can still not be 100% certain would be a drastic mistake.

Over the past millions of years many weather patterns and changes in the world have occurred. Looking over data of the past 200 years is such a small glimpse of what has happened and what may be happening right now.

The book is being promoted at the U.N. Climate Change Conference in Kenya:

A new United Nations childrens book promotes fears of catastrophic manmade global warming and is replete with exaggerations and inaccuracies, according to a U.S. Senate report.

The book, "Tore and the Town on Thin Ice, is published by the United Nations Environment Programme and blames "rich countries for creating a climate catastrophe.

A release issued Monday by the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment & Public Works reads in part:

"The book is about a young kid named Tore who lives in an Arctic village. Tore loses a dog sled race because he crashes through the thinning ice allegedly caused by manmade greenhouse gas emissions. The book features colorful drawings and large text to appeal to young children.

"After the boy loses the dog sled race, he is visited by Sedna, the Mother of the Sea in a dream. The Sea Mother informs the boy in blunt terms that the thinning ice that caused his loss in the dog sled race was due to manmade global warming . . .

Story Continues Below

"The morning after his dream, Tore sets out on a quest for knowledge about the dangers of catastrophic manmade global warming. A snowy owl informs Tore that the planets heating up and that both the Arctic and Antarctica are warming almost twice as fast as elsewhere.

The committees release notes: "The Arctic, according to the International Arctic Research Center, was warmer during the 1930s than today and both the journals Science and Nature have published studies recently finding on balance Antarctica is both cooling and gaining ice.

The release continues: "The snowy owl also asserts that the great ice cap here in Greenland mountains of snow and ice up to about four kilometers thick is thawing.

Again, the committee refutes that allegation, stating: "A 2005 study by a scientist named Ola Johannessen and his colleagues showed that the interior of Greenland is gaining ice and mass.

In the book, a polar bear informs Tore that it is hungry because the ice is too thin to stand on and hunt and says that other bears have "starved. The polar bear adds, "We may not have much of a future.

The committee release states: "In May of 2006, biologist Dr. Mitchell Taylor from the Arctic government of Nunavut, a territory of Canada, noted that Of the 13 populations of polar bears in Canada, 11 are stable or increasing in number. They are not going extinct, or even appear to be affected at present.

After a whale appears and presents more climate fear, the boy finally screams, "Listen, Ive had all the bad news I can stand. Our world is melting. Polar bears are starving and all sorts of animals wont survive. I dont want to hear anymore!

The whale continues, telling the child that more hurricanes and "other things you call natural disasters are on their way, too and theyre getting harsher.

The committees release notes: "The relationships between global warming and hurricanes is currently under debate, with the great majority of scientists believing there is little connection. For instance, 2006 was anticipated to be a record year for hurricanes, but turned out to be one of the calmest seasons in many, many years.

In the book, the "Sea Mother singles out the industrialized world as the cause of her predicted climate catastrophe.

The release goes on to state the "Sea Mother tells the boy: "Rich countries use and waste an awful lot of energy. Huge cars. Too many cars instead of efficient trains and buses.

The committee interjects that "several developing world nations will soon pass the U.S. in greenhouse gas emissions. China alone will pass the U.S. in emissions in 2009.

this debate reminds me of a discussion i had at the gym the other day with a guy who has a masters in Molecular Biology and does cancer research.

i asked him why there were hardly any studies on the effects of marijuana on people ... he said that simply "there is no money in it" - the government provides the largest percent of funding for scientific research and there is no political agenda to be furthered by funding a study on marijuana

I am in utter shock. Not one argument in this thread for global warming. Wow.

DjSap 11-15-2006 09:05 PM

meh...that climate has changed throughot the life of earth, so it's not like the climate is supposed to be static...

plus a bit of heat has never killed anybody...at least in canada...

ha.. i didn't really read the posts. but yeah... i am not saying that there is not something to be concerned about... but i think political agendas, funding, sources of funding, expected findings, bias etc etc etc all also play a role. like always, the truth usually lies somewhere in between.

Simply because all the shit that is happening, I should say, all the shit that will happen if we do nothing, will be in direct correlation with the humanity bad habits off the last 100-125 years.
Don't worry, what we did in the 70's and 80's is still affecting us.
The planet earth have is limits like everything else and if we don't change the way we live, we will regret it sooner than we think.

Without question. Im all for keeping the earth clean. HOWEVER Im fully against people going around trying to scare people into believing a fallacy.

What age are you? If you remembered how it used to be, compared to what it is like now you'd have a different perspective. Global warming is a crock of hooey. Period.
