Fact : Borat was very good but way over rated

Their PR team did a great fucking job.

NoWhErE 11-15-2006 03:49 PM

Agreed, at least I got to see it with a sexy beast

DjSap 11-15-2006 04:13 PM

it was pretty good...not as good as I expected it, but the naked scene was probably the funniest scene ever....

Scott McD 11-15-2006 04:15 PM

It's the over-hype that has put me off slightly.

I will eventually go see it though...

madawgz 11-15-2006 04:19 PM

it wasnt as good because they released footage from the film before it came out...thats what sucked :(

MandyBlake 11-15-2006 04:31 PM

still haven't seen it, but i find him hilarious.

Luc 11-15-2006 04:51 PM

i agree. it was also a bit too fake. the show at least has real footage, this seemed very staged, ex: pamela scene, bear, etc.

overall it's still a good movie, but way less than what i expected as a big alig/borat fan.

Fact: You have never created a thread with "fact" in the title that actually contained a fact.

There was some real footage. For instance, both the drunk frat guys and the driving instructor have filed lawsuits for their scenes being put in the movie.

They did sign releases, but the driving instructor said they told him it was for a documentary, and the frat guys are complaining that they signed the release when they were drunk.

borat is one of those people you cant just watch and like it instantly, i think if i watched the movie i wouldnt think it was as funny if i didnt watch every skit on the ali g show years beforehand.

I'll wait for the DVD with the bonus features (deleted scenes, etc). Borat doesn't strike me as must see big screen entertainment.

nahh I laughed my ass off.

Gary_TLX 11-16-2006 03:30 AM

I also laughed my ass off, so it must've been good. :) I can't wait for the DVD to come out.

Sexsitesurfer 11-16-2006 03:31 AM

Borat was VERY over rated... Some was too nasty/blatant, some just wasn't that funny, some was genius.

I have been a big fan since Ali G started as a 5 minute section on a half hour comedy show. I liked his Borat character too and I think a selection of his Borat's guide to England would have been funnier. It wasn't quite so nasty in nailing its targets and none was set up.

:2 cents:

Vitasoy 11-16-2006 03:36 AM

I thought it was pretty darn funny myself. Easily one of the funniest movies this year.

reynold 11-16-2006 07:02 AM

It was a great movie. Borat aint overrated, he's simply good. :pimp

DaddyHalbucks 11-16-2006 07:08 AM

Borat was a funny movie.

One scene I did not like was of the Jewish innkeepers. It wasn't funny, especially as Borat sought to demonize people who were being nice to him. I am not Jewish, but I just didn't think it was funny.

DaddyHalbucks 11-16-2006 07:10 AM

And, yes, the movie was over-rated.

There were some very funny scenes, as funny as I have ever seen, but overall it was a B movie.

It was a set up and the set up scenes were generally the least funny. Like the gypsy/yard sale.

I know the joke is that he is Jewish too... but didn't get me laughing.
