For the guys who have remodeled - Custom Kitchen Cabinets HOW MUCH??

Ive got like 70 linear feet of custom kitchen cabinets to install in the new kitchen I just built. What should this shit cost???

Lets put it this way, his figure is about 25% of what the ENTIRE addition cost. 21k. I know some of you have done this. What fair for something like this?

They use that compressed wood shit instead of oak or maple. Dunno if I want to do that.

Refacing or redoing the whole thing? I was quoted 20k for our kitchen, and its a small kitchen.

dodger21 11-15-2006 02:46 PM

Redoing the whole thing. Its a new addition with nothing there right now.

To get all new cabinets (and JUST cabinets - no counter, knobs, handles, etc.) for my teeny-little galley style kitchen I was quoted almost $5000. And I was going for the "economy" cabinets. If you're getting something nice, and you've got 70' of cabinets (I am so jealous, I could scream!), $21K isn't unrealistic.

Gabe, hope you're feeling better, bud!

First off your in L.A. so cheap or inexpensive is out the window. I was in the construction field for a while, and I can tell you for custom cabinets, plus having 70' you are probably looking at anywhere between 20k-35k depending on how custom you want to get.:2 cents:

You really should look outside of anybody who specializes in it and is white.

If you're in LA, find a Mexican who builds cabinets. That is the most bloated addition in any kitchen. Put in compressed wood boxes with good internal veneers and then do solid wood doors with nice knobs. Use plexiglass insted of real glass. If you do those things, you'll save at least 50% and have some damn nice cabinets.

Oh ya...my old man owned a wood shop for about 10 years.

i bet you can't even cook

21k for custom cabinets is a pretty good price...most custom jobs i've heard about usually go above 50k....

I have solid maple cabinets and they were (for easy math) $250 a linear foot. If the cabinets they are pricing at atleast 1/2 solid wood then they are in the realm of reason.

Someone mentioned Home Depot... Those are not quality cabinets! Kraft Maid is not used in fine homes :)

Cabinets, Granite, and Appliances will be your biggest expenses in the kitchen. In that order.
