Firefox Help Please? Screenshot of wierd plugin request
Ok, i have a brand new toshiba dual processor, 2 gigs of ram, pimpy video card.
thats the setup. now i have windows media the latest version of their player. i have flash installed the latest version of their player. i have firefox installed, the latest version of their software. no matter what i do i cannot get firefox to play embedded media files. it gives me this request to install missing plug ins. the pages it takes me to has nothing on them that i don't have. what is this application/x-mplayer2 that this thing wants? i'm starting to lose my mind. i hate i.e. and having to open it when i wanna see a video blows. any help is appreciated. http://www.shanesworld.com/airek/screenie.jpg |

Looks like it's Windows Media Player. Check out that URL. It's great for fixing that kind of thing. |
I get the same thing. I have seen it work on a couple of pages before but 99/100 it doesn't.
The link there just sent me to a page outlining a long drawn out process to mess with activex. It also says if you have WMP 7.1 or later, it'll detect it. Which it usually doesn't. |
yeah i am investigating that link now and its an endless loop of information and nothing that fixes it yet. thanks. :)
