GeoIp ads are annoying, do they actually work?
I am tired of seeing banner after banner that somehow decides it knows where i live (which is usually wrong btw) on every site i goto. they were a cool idea in the beginning and i'm sure they generated a shitload of clicks when they were a new thing. but if they've driven me crazy, i'm sure they're pushing other people's buttons by now too. they are up the in the annoying ranks with adult friend finder banners. do these still generate alot of hits to this day? you think most surfers by now would have realized what they are and their effectiveness would have worn off already. anyone care to share their views?

do they really generate that many more clickthrus than a well designed, properly thought out banner would though? like does joe blow really buy that some pornstar has ever heard of bumfuck idaho? surely they have got to be losing some effectiveness. but hell, if they are working that great maybe i'll start running the damn things too... |
additionally i should ask, which programs convert the best on these type of advertisements?

Our geo-ip technology focuses on the surfer's country, not their home town, so that they can be pitched to in a language they understand - theirs eg: http://www.pinaccesscode.com/?layout=general_straight
Note how it is possible to revert to English in all countries - to capture the travelling businemenn and expatriate sectors:pimp Works well, as livestats bear witness: http://www.password-by-phone.com/realstats.php http://gfx.passwordbyphone.com/468x60-b2b/003.gif |

Since we moved to Denmark they're not working at all for me. They all tell me I'm in Copenhagen whereas you couldn't get further from Copenhagen here and still be Denmark if you tried. That said, when I lived in the UK they were usually pretty spot on.
