I totally agree. I have dozens of sites sharing the same ip that do fine with google I just dont interlink them all. I never had an issue with using multiple domains on one ip but I pay close attention to my linking schemes.

Interlinking and similar themes are what you have to watch out for. Otherwise, there is no problem sharing IP's.
