Why You Shouldnt Use Link Dumps

For those that do not know what link dump sites are.....they are a series of " traffic trading " sites.

you basically sunbit your url and their script crawls your site and adds it to their page.

Sure you will get some hits by adding your url to sites like that....BUT...

those link dump sites will eventually TAKE YOUR SEARCH ENGINE RANK....AND KEYWORDS.

from experience, dont do it. dont add your link, and definetly do not trade traffic with sites like those.

The majority of traffic they will send you is FAKE.

dont think short term, think long term, and in the long term, link dump sites will eventually take your rank and keywords.

Not sure if there's a new linkdump script out there, but the ones I've used certainly don't have the features you've mentioned.. so unless the webmaster himself is personally adding and searching through pages (which I highly doubt - that would take quite a bit of time) your assumptions are false.

1. dont talk about something you have no clue about.

there are plenty of scripts being used main stream that will do those features and more.

the second u submit your url, the script crawls the entire pages and lists it no different than a search engine would.

another one literally copies the complete page of the url and adds it the the scripts database...showing it to people in a frame.

what scripts have you been using? kiddie scripts?

stick your foot back in your mouth and gfy:321GFY :1orglaugh

Since this is an adult board I wasn't at all talking about mainstream scripts. Let me clarify: Every ADULT linkdump that I have seen (99% of them using that simple flat-file script, can't think of the name) does not operate in that way. Provide me a link to an adult linkdump that does, I'd be very interested to see one in action :)

Google loves links but hates link farms.

thats good advice

i know of a linkdump script that does such things as showing your website in a frame. when my site is viewed through the frame of the linkdump script, basicly im just getting raw hits from the linkdump, not unique hits from the surfers(at least thats how i think it works). pretty lame.

Kaylum 03-25-2007 07:45 AM

what's up gfy

this is a first for me, to read some negativity on link dumps. with the large number out there, the majority seems to think differently about the benefits of using them.

i personally use them, and have off-and-on ran a few. it's a double-edged sword in my opinion. you will have some individuals that do operate in a shady manner and some that don't. it's a crap-shoot.

if a linkdump is "claiming" that it can send you so many uniques and decides to use frames, then that's a problem.. but most linkdumps don't claim to guarantee any amount of traffic.

most submitters should know that you're just dropping your links into a bucket that gets emptied and filled again and again.. yes, some linkdumps have archives, but do the surfers usually go that deep? i don't think so.

back to frames, as a webmaster.. i would love to present the galleries/content to my surfers and still have some link to them via the frame, is that a bad thing? no.

it's no worse than all of those traffic tradiing scripts that send users to different galleries than the one they clicked on, all so traffic trades can be filed, hmmm..

long live linkdumps!

peace

Yes link dumps do have the potential to "steal" your SE traffic but link dump get usually get higher rankings than your site alone so you probably wouldn't have gotten the SE traffic anyway.

Solution:

1. Use a frame break out script on all of your pages
2. Create a .htaccess rule that rewrite your domain in case of redirects

Have you heard of BLACK SEO ???

If your trying to get SEO traffic from a link dump etc... such is not a Search Engine issue !!! If you have a fair amount of traffic going to your website from the different Search Engines and you have tuns of hard links leading off your website(s), then you might have a issue of having a bad layout; but to say they are stealing your SEO traffic just sounds wrong...

I would not use link dumps, because they do not send a noticeable amount of traffic... and quality is alway in question !!!

As I keep on saying watch out for BLACK SEO !!!

Later all,

MikesTraffic 03-27-2007 08:08 PM

the guy that started this thread is an idiot, being an operator of a link dump and a user of them for quite some time and based on my knowledge this thread is complete rubbish

ezkash 03-27-2007 09:54 PM

Bottom Line: Don't use linkdumps....
