:1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh That's some funny shit right there. I thought it was a casino or something of sorts till I read you said it was in china wtf.

k0nr4d 11-14-2006 03:32 AM

well zoom out, that mass of water to the left is another lake.
I can see how they would get it into that bigger lake from the ocean but uhhh... yeah...

k0nr4d 11-14-2006 03:37 AM

found an article:

Liu initiated at the navy's Shanghai Research Institute a feasibility study on the design and construction of an aircraft carrier. Models were constructed and tested in the institute's six-hundred-meter (656-yard) pool and at Tai Lake in Jiangsu Province.

Weird shit.

madawgz 11-14-2006 03:42 AM

thats pretty strange lol

Matt 26z 11-14-2006 03:47 AM

Notice how all around there the map is low res except for that one spot. Looks like Google wants everyone to see the potentially sensitive areas of China.

BrettJ 11-14-2006 04:22 AM

zoom in as much as you can and then scroll around the pic ... thre is actually quite a few cool things (building designs, road ways, shrubs/garden layout ... in the pic

emthree 11-14-2006 05:27 AM

That's a pretty nice looking location. I wonder what an acre of land goes for.

Big_D 11-14-2006 06:31 AM

wow, i have no idea why they would do that except for possible training

reynold 11-14-2006 06:44 AM

That's quite fascinating. The beauty of Google search maps. :pimp

Mr. Romance 11-14-2006 06:47 AM

When you zoom out one step, you realize (a) it is very close to a sea or ocean, and (b) there is a canal that comes right to the end of that little holding area. Getting it there was no issue.

More impressive for me is this video:

http://www.rudigreyling.com/movie/bo...ding_small.wmv

747 retired by being landing on a runway it can never take off from, will be used as a museum or something... amazing to see the plane land on a runway that isn't barely as wide as it's wheels.

pornpf69 11-14-2006 07:40 AM

Crazy Carlos 11-14-2006 08:32 AM

damn that is crazy. ok is connected to the sea but how the hell can you navigate some thing that big through a cannal that small. those people are crazy. but then again it doesn't really show when you see it between all the grey roads.

Dollarmansteve 11-14-2006 08:51 AM

after a bit of sleuthing, I found this:

"It is, in fact, a Nimitz class replica. This is part of the Orient Green Boat theme park. The carrier is located in what is known as the "military education center" section of the park.

See pics and info on this page at Global Security:
