Playboy party... something was just wrong...

It's one thing to limit the amount of invitees based on lack of space, ability to kiss up to sponsors, etc... But as WA was winding down, am I the only one who noticed a bevy of people showing up for the party who were not even at WA? If the party is just going to be for the locals and their friends, it might as well disassociate itself from the entire event. As it was, many of the people who had paid for the event and even had relationships with many of the sponsors (including me) were left wondering what happened to all the invites.

Note to Webmaster Access: Maybe next time you should insist that all those invited are also registered for the event.

are you sure they weren't on a sponser's invite list?

I couldn't EVEN imagine with the cost of sponsering that event and limited tickets that they would allow anyone without an invite in.

I wasn't able to make it to the show so I am not sure if what your talking about actually happended, however if it did, and I was a sponsor, I would be upset if half the people attending had nothing to do with the industry.

Exactly. I am sure there were a lot of people that only showed up for the Playboy party. Doesn't mean they didn't have a pass. You had to have the wristband to even get on the bus.

i don't think he is saying that they didn't have anything to do with the industry, he is saying they weren't even attendees of webmaster access

Oh, I can. Someone who works for a company wants to get his buddy who's not in the biz in. Impress him that he's a "somebody". Gives one of the passes to him. Cost him nothing - what does he care if the company is picking up the tab?

Rumor has it the guy who clocked Ramos isn't in the industry either. As always, there will be surfers at shows - the parties are no exceptions.

As far as people going to the Playboy party who didn't go to WA, if they're in the biz, who cares, IMO.
