The ultimate irony

my battery died in my laptop a few days ago, so I order a new one

I get it today and pop that sucker in, it charges to about 40% and POOF a puff of smoke comes from my power supply

my power supply dies 25 minutes after getting a new battery

irony

luckily i have an older power supply, but it is all ghetto, I have to hold the cord a certain way for it to work...LOL

wtf, how old is your laptop?

that sucks. I had to replace my battery pack deal after about 3 weeks. now my battery hardly stays charged but it works fine if it is plugged into the wall.

LiveDose 11-10-2006 12:53 PM

i have had nothing but luck with this model, their desktops are horrible, but this series of laptops was great before they discontinued it

FYI, emachines is the manufacturer of most laptops...in fact gateway owns them...but they manufacture laptops for some of the largest laptop companies in the world

this one I have has ALL brand name components...I opened it up and there is not one generic piece inside, unlike dell who uses the cheapest parts they can find

I dated a guy who owned a computer repair shop. He LOVED emachines. He said the power supply being replaced was pretty much a given.

yeah, they basically a budget computer with brand name parts...you can buy any of their base models for $400 and spend about $200 more in upgrades and have a computer that dell would sell for $900-1000

Jace 11-10-2006 01:30 PM

haha, i am so ghetto now
I took the blowup power supply and spliced it with the working but ghetto cord one and got a fully functional one :)
