what would case a site to hang while loading
 

I uploaded a pg right now with a bunch of graphics and when I load it part way it hangs for awhile then continues to load the rest of the images. when I uploaded the same thing to a friends server it loads fine there. wut could be the problem here ?

you might be calling an image or java script banner from another source other than your server (and that server is having issues or maybe your internet conection to that other server) , that will cause the rest of the page to hang up from that point and below.

A common example where you see this is when AFF servers are having issues and you have their add at the top of your page, thus killing everything below it.

its all hosted on the same domain as the page
gotta be the hosting then
