What do you guys think needs improvement? Any advice? Am I off to a good start?

I've been writing pretty plain reviews for the posts as im trying to get as many in as possible to make it look like the site has content once i reach about 50 logs I will make some pretty decent eye catching reviews :)

I'd say get your site of thumblogger and on to your own host asap.
