Unfortunately, that isnt the case, the cells found in the umbillical cord havent been proven to grow all 3 cell layers needed to be a successfull replacement for embryonic stem cells.

Its only a matter of time though imho :)

Right now its not certain that they *wont* its that they currently dont know how to get tem to work properly so that they *will* and unfortunately, without further funding in the field of stem cell research, its going to be years before they discover how to get them growing all 3 layers, if possible :(
