How do these DVD Programs/Resellers find all these Studios?

I want to throw my hat into the content market. Does it just take alot of head hunting for Studios? Then try to get ahold of them somehow? Emails/snail mail etc?

For any type of content it's best to have samples produced before making contact. Generally no one will be interested without seeing what you can make first.

Are you talking about licensing for the web, DVD, etc?

Yes like that.

Got it. So for this the obvious part is you would need to contact every studio you can find, and work out some sort of deal with them that would fit with whatever your business plan might be. There are probably some that have exclusive deals with other content broker companies, but most will have some sort of non exclusive outright/percentage deal they might be intersted in doing.

Be prepared to be met with a bit of skepticism from any company that doesn't know you personally. From a producer aspect you are approched by TONS of content brokers/vod providers, etc. The vast majoirty do not pan out or do so little business you are sure you're either getting ripped off or just wasted time setting it up. Very few do the business that would make a studio sit up and take notice, especially if they are getting paid reliably from another company(s).

I would concentrate on the studios you don't see everywhere, or do not see at all. There's a few studios that I have not seen their content anywhere online, short of actual DVDs. It might be they are not interested, that no one has approched them, or that have something else in the works with the content.

Thanks Ghost for the feed back. I have a few studio contacts already to buy the Rights to the DVD's to use on my paysites. Im sure its just a matter of buying the resellers rights. You pay X amount off Dollars per DVD. Really Im just wondering how the hell these guys find so many studios. Do they go to the local xxx shop and just rent piles of DVD's to find good stuff then look them up on the web? Alot of these studios dont have websites yet. It's just driving me crazy.

To find a list of studios, pick up an AVN magazine. There is plenty of contact information for most studios inside. For research, search one of the bigger online DVD retailers and start making a list. There are LOTS of studios out there (as you've sen) but some might have multiple studios that are owned by one company.

Hope this help and best wishes.
