I've just added John Chow's list of domains to my competitive filter, it will be interesting to see whether my income goes up, or whether google "starves" and just starts serving more public service ads

There's ways to get around the arbi haters :) There's also many cheap mainstream sources of 1c traffic so you don't have to use PPC SE sites.

Arbitrage was also a trendy term in the 80s regarding leverage buyouts and corporate takeovers.

There's also betting arbitrage, where you make a guaranteed (miniscule) profit based on differences between the odds of different bookmakers.

PPC arbitrage seems more like a high average profit margin rather than a guaranteed profit by betting either way.
