doing custom design is a pain in the ass

holy shit, i never thought designing a webpage for someone else could be such a huge pain in the ass, i give huge props to anyone who does this for a living. not being able to have complete creative control drives me crazy. i can't think of anything more annoying than someone telling you they like your work and want you to do a page for them. then putting hours in and then having them pick it apart, tell you to do everything differently, doing it all differently, and still not having it be what they want. especially when they give you absolutely no conceptual idea to work with whatsoever. i wasted an entire afternoon doing up a design which iwas completely satisfied with TWICE and it still wasn't enough to make my customer happy. i figure i had made a total of about 7 dollars an hour up until the point i said fuck it. now i'm just gonna have to scrap the layout down and redo it for one of my blogs to make some salvage of my time.

people really do want everything for nothing i guess! huge respect goes out to those who put up with this shit on a daily basis...

Well, if you have a proper discussion up front, very few changes are ever made in my experience. I ask the type of questions that make me know changes will be needed. I try to get the clearest idea of what the client wants ... even if he doesn't know it yet ! :D

I've had to make changes... of course. But generally, it's not a massive problem.

I don't do cheap templates, so I guess that helps...

When it comes to designing, one has to have a patience of a buddha.

haha...exactly. Hey bro, I think Boldy mentioned I kept meaning to get back up with you. Hit me up first thing in the morning if you're up. I been busy as hell and it has just kept slipping my mind.

all i got for a response was "i like it, but make it sicker.." when asked what he would like to see "oh, jazz it up, make it sicker..." so i doubled it up. "oh make it even sicker..." for 80 bucks shit is only gonna get so sick...

Twisted Dave 11-06-2006 10:08 PM
