L.A. Summer in November! This is why I love living here!

Woke up late this morning and it was sunny and 80+ degrees by my house so I took my daughter down to Santa Monica for the day and it was just beautiful.

It had to be high 70's/low 80's all afternoon. We went to the 3rd Street Promonade - chilled out and walked around then hung out at the Santa Monica Pier playing games and riding the roller coaster, ferris wheel and other fun stuff!

Had a serious blast!

Here's a crappy cell phone pic. I adjusted the color a bit but it really doesn't give the day justice!

Hope the weather holds up for everyone

Traffic, crime, smog, high cost of living, and housing is through the roof. LA sucks.

To each his/her own, Roc - it's all about perspective :)

In reality, I'm 35 miles outside of "LA" - about 15 - 30 minutes from any part of "the SF valley" or Hollywood and most of my business meetings ... but I hear what you're saying :winkwink:

I'm close enough to enjoy the advantages I perceive that LA has to offer - weather, resturaunts, nightlife, beaches, culture, etc. - yet outside enough to agree somewhat with what you're saying!
  1. My kids are in a great private school. :thumbsup
  2. I work from home and choose when to take meetings so I avoid most traffic. :thumbsup
  3. Own my home and can afford not to worry about what some term a high cost of living. :thumbsup
  4. I live in one of the safest cities in the nation :thumbsup :thumbsup

And we are neighbors. I love Valencia too. I am actually looking at places overlooking the TPC golf course right now. We saw 3 more today...

Nice, Mitch :)

As our running joke goes - It's still more likely that we'll see each other at shows or Costco!

Actually, I'll see you at dinner on Thursday (which is because of a show of course)

Yeah, 3rd street is cool. I like that fat dude with the little monkey that takes money from people.

Also, next time you go to the 3rd street promonade, I recommend eating at The Falafel King. Their food is delicious.

FYI man, the weather is screwy everywhere

during winter last year we had a couple of week of 80F

it ain't just LA anymore with this global warming shit

Ross 11-06-2006 04:13 AM

LA is amazing... I remember sitting in the sun last year on November 18th or so... I mean, come on thats crazy that its so warm at that time of year. I have my heating on in my house all day long right now over here in cold Scotland.

reynold 11-06-2006 07:34 AM

Wow! Looks like a perfect day to enjoy the beach. :)

inthecrack 11-06-2006 07:35 AM

I was in LA doing shoots for a month just last month. Sunny and 80 degrees EVERY day. Not even any wind. Arriving back in Canada to snow and icy fog every day seemed a little sureal.

Disadvantages of LA....
You have to drive for hours to get out of the rat race.
If you're shooting video outdoors expect to have precious few moments without a plane or helicopter ruining your audio!

justsexxx 11-06-2006 07:51 AM

I liked LA, but damn the air was really really bad....

Sosa 11-06-2006 08:34 AM

supposed to be 70 here this week in nebraska :)

kristin 11-06-2006 09:24 AM

Arizona has you beat my friend ... been like 80-85 here and all I want to do is wear my cute winter clothes!

serch 11-06-2006 09:32 AM

Oh, i'd like to be now in summer...

Rhesus 11-06-2006 09:33 AM

I actually found it pretty cold this summer (august)

jmk 11-06-2006 10:02 AM

If you think Santa Clarita is nice now, you should have been here 5-10 years ago. I too live in Santa Clarita. Lived here for a looong time. It’s still nice, but not as nice as it used to be. Because of the insane housing costs in LA and even the Valley, people flocked to Valencia. Santa Clarita is the 6th safest city? It USED to be the 3rd! Even though in LA crime overall has dropped, in SVC it’s risen. If you build it, they will come, and boy they came. The traffic is worse there than it has ever been, the nice views are gone, (as the put homes where the mountains used to be) and many of the reasons I moved there in the first place are gone as well.

But where am I going to go, Palmdale?

Still, I’d rather live here than anywhere else in this area. Just seemed like a good time to vent! :)
