Soon you will need government permission to leave or re-enter the US...

Quote:

Forget no-fly lists. If Uncle Sam gets its way, beginning on Jan. 14,
2007, we'll all be on no-fly lists, unless the government gives us
permission to leave-or re-enter-the United States.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (HSA) has proposed that all
airlines, cruise lines-even fishing boats-be required to obtain
clearance for each passenger they propose taking into or out of the
United States.

It doesn't matter if you have a U.S. Passport - a "travel document"
that now, absent a court order to the contrary, gives you a virtually
unqualified right to enter or leave the United States, any time you
want. When the DHS system comes into effect next January, if the
agency says "no" to a clearance request, or doesn't answer the
request at all, you won't be permitted to enter-or leave-the United
States.

That's always been a lucrative business. =)

Guess those sites scooped Time, and Newsweek for that story eh? :uhoh

Holy flashback Batman! I've lived in a country like that, it was back in the Iron Curtain days, the president was a dictator and the country was communist. So much for the America Dream, people...

There is already a lively market in fake nicks. Someone I know recently paid a few hundred bucks for a nick with 900 posts, a join date in early 2006 and a board rep for great one-word posts and a little PHP savvy.

Ohhhh shit. If that really goes down, it is dark days for this country. There is no turning back from something like that.

And so many people have fought and died to avoid such. For nothing...

That's a real source. A site run by the U.S. Government. :thumbsup

To view the entire docket, got to http://www.regulations.gov . Since comments have closed, check the box to search all documents instead of the default of only documents currently open for comment, then search for "USCBP-2005-0003". As in all such regulatory proceedings, the agency (the DHS) is supposed to consider and respond to the public comments before it finalizes the proposed rules.

Now, that an exciting prospect - the hatches are getting battened down tighter in the Land of the Free to allegedly protect em from all the enemies they made. At least that's a good enough excuse for now :pimp

Seriously... not good for US folks or anyone travelling on route thru the US. On the latter - who's going to bother travelling via the US? The hassle is already not worth it. At least it might cut the airport traffic down, but lose millions in other ways.

Bottom line - they gone mad.

If you have nothing to hide, why not mandatory DNA & fingerprints.,....& how ab out chips in your arm so ambulances can locate you in an emergency.

You have nothing to hide as a law abiding citizen right?

welcome to the matrix

why not simply lock everyone away in a one man cell - that way no one could be harmed in any way.

Correct.. it is a proposal - where there is a desire to implement in 3 months. You want to comment on it? :)

BTW.. it does not fuck or reproduce.

It has no chance in hell of passing and any idiot would be able to see that, of course in this age of hypersensative liberalism any fucking mention of new laws invokes accusations of communism or nationalism etc.

Big business would not allow it, Republicans would not allow it, frankly it would have a better chance of being implimented if the Democrats were in power. Democrats want BIG GOVERNMENT, Republicans dont.

Did that spewage about politics have anything to do with airflights? Is there a free political dogma book give out on ever flight? Never noticed that mentioned.

Carry on - don't dwell on it whether it comes into effect or not :thumbsup

Compare the budgets between the Clinton presidency and the Bush presidency and you'll see the Republicans are the party of big government.

pocketkangaroo 11-03-2006 11:07 PM

This is the most misleading thread I've ever seen. Read through the fucking proposal before you make a fool of yourself.

The proposal is simply saying that aircraft will have to submit their passenger manifest 60 minutes prior to flight instead of the 15 minutes that it is currently set at. There is some other minor stuff in there about what is the definition of a departure (the scheduled time or the actual time). This doesn't change anything at all as them checking manifests has been protocal for years. This just extends the time so that they don't have to divert a flight in mid-air if they come across a no-fly lister.

Seriously guys, I'm against big government and big brother, but shit like this makes that cause look like it's run by a bunch of crackheads.

Where have you been the last 6 years? :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

And Democrats would pass this? Don't they want the terrorists to win?

Nookster 11-03-2006 11:12 PM

wtf, that would cause soo much chaos. I can't wait for that to unfold...if it ever does.

Pleasurepays 11-03-2006 11:13 PM

funny that someone can be accusing bush or the current adminstration of using scare tactics to control people... when you are the same people using this type of misleading BS to scare people away from supporting bush.

:)

like it or not, you are just the other side of the same coin. no better. no worse.
