Need hosting for Autoblogger Pro Stand Alone Edition

Ok so I'm looking for shared hosting that will support installing Autoblogger Pro Stand Alone Edition....the one I have currently isn't supporting it because MySQL version is too old. Spam me!

The version they use is updated each time with updates available for it, it's simply not a version recent enough for Autoblogger

Hmmm?

Go into the Relink member's area and regenerate your archive, then download the updated version -- we released a "hotfix for people with lazy hosts" this morning. :1orglaugh

Basically, it changes how ABP handles character sets on hosts that refuse to treat their customers with respect.

If it doesn't work for you, let me know .. but I suspect it will. :)

Man, you'd be amazed. I saw people using all kinds of crazy versions today -- as far back as 2002.

Most hosts (especially virtuals) are still on 4.0.22 or so .. it's crazy.

Out of curiosity, what version is your host using right now?

They run version 4.0.24 on virtual accounts

Okay, that's what confused me. You said that they updated their versions frequently, but 4.0.24 was released March of 2005, I believe. That's pretty old ... I mistook what you said as a jab at Autoblogger, it seemed like you were saying "my hosts updates frequently, but Autoblogger doesn't support it" etc etc. But I guess not, since it turns out your host is way behind. :)

In any event, give the update a shot. We designed it for hosts that are behind the times. Let me know how it works out.

some on my virtual boxes are on 4.4.4

others are on 5.2.0

also. so old versions means that kernel were never updated for security ... that is bad.

I'd RUN, not walk, away from someone running versions as old as his host is -- but now that we ARE backwards compatible with the old stuff, it's all good anyway ... I personally don't want old DB's that may have security holes, etc, but hey ...

baddog 11-03-2006 07:15 PM

what version is required?

edgeprod 11-03-2006 07:42 PM

It should work with any version.

Devilporn 11-03-2006 07:46 PM

The hotfix is working good....nice job!
However, I'm really wondering now if I should change host or not :helpme

edgeprod 11-03-2006 08:11 PM

I'd be a little wary. Who is it?

I will not say...they always provided great support with anything I needed done for my sites and I never had any problem at all security wise either
I'm just wondering if it might be the time to move to some other host with a more recent MySQL version since I plan on launching a big network of blogs.
