Strange but true, you might want to look at some of the dual core toshibas... not terrible at all!

mailman 11-03-2006 09:23 AM

Dell :)

Best cost and I have never had an issue with the 2 I have.

DjSap 11-03-2006 09:23 AM

Dell or Toshiba

DutchTeenCash 11-03-2006 09:38 AM

tracking software?

Juicy D. Links 11-03-2006 09:39 AM

you can get LoJack now for laptops

Gary_TLX 11-03-2006 09:42 AM

Don't get Toshiba. I got one a year ago and it's the worst laptop I ever had.

A-Bomb 11-03-2006 09:45 AM

any Dell that fits your needs PLUS the 3yr,4yr,or 5yr Complete Care Plan. If you are on the road and your laptop dies, a guy will be on your hotel door next day with a part in hand to replace whatever is broken (a.k.a. no sending the laptop in for repairs!!!). Plus the warranty covers accidental drops and spills. It's expensive, but worth it if your entire business is on the laptop and you are a Road Warrior.

Hope all that stuff was password protected.

MandyBlake 11-03-2006 09:55 AM

i would go with dell....but if you're not doing much more than surfing on it, you might want to look at a winbook. they're pretty inexpensive and i've had no trouble with mine for 2 yrs.

Theo 11-03-2006 09:55 AM

Dish out the extra money for the warranty. And if possible, try to make sure the component's on the motherboard aren't embedded. Being able to pull and replace a video card is a beautiful thing.

As for brand...I gotta go with HP or Sony. I can't vouch for Dell the way I used to. Not after seeing them all die at work within 2 years of use.
