Melodic dark music ? band list needed!

Am looking for some melodic dark "church-like" music.. hard to explain really but what i am looking for is slow melodic church-like music with growling or deep male vocals..

if anyone has seen scrubs its the kind of music that is playing when the janitor is giving someone the evil eye in season 5 ...

any ideas which bands to give a try ?

Violetta 11-03-2006 05:57 AM

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but it is my best friend's band:

www.myspace.com/ribozymenorway

nekrom 11-03-2006 06:18 AM

Not sure if you've checked out COF already, but most of their stuff is up that alley.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=kMqvwRT6grM
https://youtube.com/watch?v=AFbsvhW65cM

There is also Within Temptation, they have a few of that style: https://youtube.com/watch?v=AkmYXiaQNxs

Perhaps even a few others like Cruxshadows, To Die For, Crematory, Lacuna Coil or whatnot, but most of their stuff is either faster darkmetal or EBM rather than church style.

That whole genre is a tricky one to source good bands/songs thats for sure mate. :)

lacuna coil and within temptation are both on my list of favorite bands but they dont have this style..

what i am looking for right now is much slower, more organ and deep slow deep male vocals..

will check some of the bands listed that i havnt checked but please keep the suggestions comming.

Turf 11-03-2006 06:25 AM

might not have put enough stress on the fact that is SLOW music i am after, not normal tempo -> speed metal..
