MicroSoft changes its Vista license policy
Customer concerns over changes to Windows Vista licensing that would limit a transfer of the license to only one machine have moved Microsoft to revise the operating system licensing policy.
Microsoft said today it has changed the retail license terms for Vista so that customers now may uninstall the OS from one machine and install it on another as many times as they want. The new terms do away with limitations on the number of new devices to which the license can be transferred. However, to continue the discouragement of piracy, Microsoft has worded the license so that it is clear that users cannot "share this license between devices." More below. http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,12...S/article.html |

i bought me a "vista premium ready" VAIO laptop mid october
turns out if you buy a vista ready pc between october 26th and something like march 2007 you get a free upgrade Registered my laptop yesterday online and cheated a bit with the date of purchase ... hope it helps :) However I don't think i'll change to vista and just keep XP (media center edition :() |
My new Dell XPS 700 is coming with XP Pro, but it has a free upgrade to Vista. I'm pumped about the new OS, but FUCK Microsoft for their licensing bullshit.

Vista sucks ass
I've got the latest beta (basically the release version) on my machine now, and the instalshield thing most programs use to install freezes constantly. Photoshop took about 5 tries to install, I gave up on office 2000 and had to download a newer office trial to get it on. There's still several other programs I can't get to totally install, so it will be coming off this machine this weekend. |

Microsoft just did a deal with Novell on Linux.
What's that tell you? They're working with Mozilla to make sure Fireofox works well with Vista? What's that say? The kingdom is eroding. :1orglaugh |

thats not so true, the browser market is dependent on the integrated auto search feature, while that MSIE has options for you to choose, would very much like to be a big share of that to get queries into its "LIVE" search engine
Does anyone read these posts before replying? All these flames yet the announcement is good news |
