Do you Own a Sleep Number Bed?

Im about to buy a cal king..... reading on the web i found people pretty much either fucking hate them or totally love them...
i tried it out... felt pretty good... an input before i drop 3k on a mattress ? |

 Any link about that thing?
	 |

I have a tempur pedic, I love it. It's hard for me to sleep on anything else now.
	 |

Heard bad things about the sleep number. it's basically an Air type matress.
We have a tempur pedic. It took me a week to get used to it, but you don't move. Sleep like a rock and wake up feeling great. If you get a real tempurpedic and not just the topper for a regular mattress, you might be ok. Good luck. |

my wife and i went out last night and spent $150.00 on a new memory foam mattress cover. We also each got a memory foam pillow. That cover is amazing. I strongly suggest getting one. It rocks!

My partner and I have a sleep number bed and we HATE it.
Let me tell you the big problem: the divider between the two sides. Take a look at the diagrams and you'll see it. So you have Air Mattress -> Shitty Foam Divider -> Air Mattress If you and your significant other ever spoon in bed, or cuddle, one of you will be laying on that shitty ass foam divider. NOT COMFORTABLE! The other problem is the foam padding that goes above and below the air mattresses tends to compress over time, making things very uncomfortable as well. In short, given 6 months, that piece of shit feels NOTHING like it does in the stores. We're getting ready to buy a regular mattress to replace the stupid thing, and we haven't even had it that long. Big waste of a lot of money. :2 cents: |

BTW: We're not heavy either, so I imagine if you weigh a bit more it gets even worse. I'm only 150lbs my partner's only 130lbs.

I'd like to get a bigger bed and would look at one but my wife thinks our mattress we have now works just fine and we just spent a grand on the fucking headboard setup.
	 |

my brother i law has one and says its the most wonderful mattress ever.
	 |

i bought a nasa foam bed for 600 and best thing i ever bought
	 |

i think the sleep number thing is overhyped. i'd just like to find a good regular bed. people say tempurpedic is good but i do move around some when i sleep so i don't think it would be too great for me. then you have beauty rests and posturpedic, etc but it seems people have good and bad things to say about all of them.

damn boyalley... im gald you brought up the point about the foam divider. I have been thinking about that for a while and owndering about the impact it might have....
my gf and i sleep together sometimes but dont live together so most of the time im gonna be sleeping on it alone and if im alone on a cal king im not gonna be on just ONE side of the bed... god damn these fucking mattresses... there is so much spin on them picking the RIGHT one is almost as bad as trying to vote on shit. anybody use a normal mattress that they like? |

 Don't now what is it!

I hear you, but with the tempurpedic you don't move around as much. It supports all parts of your body so you don't have to flip and move. It's hard to explain. It took me a week to get used to it because it feels very different. I've never slept better and I've had water beds, 1500 dollar posturpedics (with springs .. soooo outdated). The tempurpedic keeps your body temp in check too. I know.. it's just weird. We saw the same exact matress at costco for 450 (queen). Go figure. I went on blind faith and did the at home trial, because we were having such terrible back pain from our old mattress. So far, it's really taken care of that. Knock on wood. |

A futon is the way to go if you're not overweight and in relatively in good shape.
For me, nothing beats a futon, but it does need to be turn over every other week and rolled up a few time a month to maintain its shape. |

great thread, cuz im shopping for a new mattress myself
Been considering the sleep number. Friend of mine has it and said its not that great. His sleep # is '100', lol. He also told me about the divider thing... he calls it 'the valley'. I think after reading this thread im sold on a tempurpedic. I just wanna sink in and pass the fuck out, not toss and turn 20 times a night. |

 lol of course

also reading epinions people say they get really hot... i guess i should go try em out again though. |

 i forgot to ask..
hows SEX in a tempurpedic? |

good question... i wanna know that answer too... banging on the floor is teh easiest imo... a normal bed makes it hard... so on a tempurpedic is it like running on sand? lol

i hope i caught you before you bought this thing.. i didnt read the thread yet.
im staying in a hotel right now that has one, it fucking sucks. hardcore. i almost bought one 6-7 months ago but favored a traditional pillowtop. glad i did. btw, i loved the feel of the demo model in the store. besides this one being extremely uncomfortable: there is a huuuuge canyon in the middle of the bed. like 1/3rd of the width of the bed, between the two air bladders that inflate to provide support. there are also very narrow canyons on the edges of the bed, between the bladders and the frame. the inflating motor thing sounds like a jet engine. i can hear the adjacent rooms to me when they turn theirs on. it just sucks. bad. really really bad. |

btw after reading the thread now, i just asked my gf which bed we got
its the tempurpedic pillowtop. i didnt go with the california king because its actually like 6-8" (i forget) narrower than a regular king. but longer. the width was more important to me than the length |

btw, in regards to those other comments about weight and the tempurpedic.. i'm 6'1 240, its comfy.
it was a bit firm for the first 30 days, then it just got perfect.. and it has been since.. hasnt changed at all. invest in some good pillows when you get a new mattress to get the full effect. i got mine at macy's when they had a 2 for 1.. they were like $45 each |

LOL Just as I saw this thread the commercial was on. Maybe I should buy one.

anyone interested in buying one - take apart the bed in the store.. just lift the mattress off and look at how the box spring is constructed.. you'll change your mind. also ask them to show you the air pump.. and ask to hear it while its running |
