Fact: Most soldiers now in Iraq were bad students
What's up with America getting all offended when a politician tells the truth for once?
Most grunts in the military are dumb and lack education. They didn't choose their careers because they preferred getting shot at by brainwashed idiots over going to Harvard, most of them chose it because they had few other options open to them. |
im not sure your argument holds water ( that military people are less smart than civilians ) or that most people do it because theres few options open..
I think you would need something to base that on.. Im sure there are some stupid peope there but theres alot more stupid civilians i think :) they just dont have guns and make tough decisions nor are they held up to such high standards.. Most americans couldnt jog with a 30 lb backpack for 1/4 mile i think heh not that that has anything to do with stupididty but.. I think lots of people who join are actually true patriots who are actually trying to do a good thing and that doesnt make them stupid.. foolhardy maybe , gullible a bit perhaps , but not stupid.. Theres prob alot of power trippers as well but again these types of people exist in civilian life 2 |
I bet you could not even pass the test to get in.

Sure, most civilians lack education and intelligence, too. The average person has an IQ of 100 and a high school diploma, was a relatively bad student, and didn't have many job options. Most soldiers are like janitors, factory workers, gardeners, carpenters, cops, firemen, car salesmen, etc. in terms of education and intelligence. Not like lawyers, doctors, corporate managers, college professors, etc. |
I agree with you man. I had/have a lot of friends that are military and I know from hanging out with them at the barracks that 80% of them aren't the brightest flares in the sky...
Officers are a different story, but the grunts/infantry/etc are a bunch of chest beating wackos |
it's similar to the practice of not calling a retard a retard to their face...people often like to think highly of themselves so when somebody brings them down to their real level it becomes uncomfortable for them...
|
Surprised?
|
They chose army because don't want to think, just obbey the orders. This is fact.
|
This thread is yet again, some moron basing a "fact" on nothing but what you think, not what you know. Fact: Most people in the military go in to serve their country or to get an education because they can't afford it.
While your at it just call everyone in this country stupid, since you seem to think that only doctors, lawyers, etc are smart. Hmm, last time I checked I knew quite a few lawyers that were fucking idiots. I knew more about the law than they did. That happens when your not smart and daddy writes a big check to the University to get them in. :pimp |
I'd like someone to bring me back down to my level. But i'm too high to get down there :stoned . :1orglaugh

Nice try, though :thumbsup |

In that case, there is little point in arguing with you, since you're braindead. |

"Few options open to them" !== "Bad Students" |
Funny,i just saw somewhere in newspapers how John Kerry says"Learn people and go to college, otherwise you will end in iraq"
|
Fact: More men and women have left the military to run highly profitable bisinesses than graduate from a university.
Just because you start college, does not mean that you are smart, or that you will make anything of your self. |

I was a Light Infantryman in the army during Desert Storm. I now have two degrees: BA in Philosophy and BA in Psychology. I also have 6 computer certifications. Congratulations on making yourself look stupid. |

What are you trying to say? and do you have any proof to back your claim up or this just your assumption?

The military's strict discipline means that even the biggest class clown has to do his homework and will be much better off for it. I am inclined to agree that most people (not all) who enlist are only doing so because they have very few options otherwise. Their life after that is forever different than their life before. |
Interesting. My cousin is a nuclear engineer for the Navy and graduated from both high school and college with a 4.0 average. His SAT scores were around 1450 or so. Yes what a bunch of big dummies we have in our military. :uhoh

Just for clarity: the soldiers I am talking about are the low-ranking privates getting blown up in Iraq, not officers, researchers, etc. |
Hard to generalize, but I really don't know of any sibblings of congressman's, ceo's, etc ... that are in the forces...
For some, joingning is te only way out they can see : Quote:

The smarter GIs usually get out after they serve 1 term. Thats what I saw anyway (on average)
Libertine thinks GFY is indicative of the United States and this is where the error in his logic comes from. In other words, don't get mad at him, pity the poor fella. |
I agree with John Kerry, but you just can't say it as a politician.
And what he said was blown WAY out of proportion. Did you see Farenheit 911? The recruiters go out into poor areas and try to grab the "low hanging fruit" to sign up for the military. Its right there on video |
I don't think it's really true. The only thing I'd say is that it typically has a larger demographic of guys who grew up in poorer communities. This is more due to the recruiting centers typically targeting those communities.
Having fewer options doesn't mean dumb. A lot of your military guys are earning money to pay for college that they would otherwise not be able to afford. |
Quote:
And did you actually believe it when the recruiter told you that you'd be an instant officer if you joined because of your degree? Damn, and you call OTHER people stupid? |
Even if this were true it just seems tacky that someone would purposely put down the people fighting and dying for us. This "someone" may in fact be more intelligent, but I'm betting I'd find the alleged "retard" more pleasant to be around.

I used the phrase "low-ranking private getting blown up in Iraq". Now, technically speaking, the cadet privates at West Point might be low-ranking privates, but they sure as hell aren't getting blown up in Iraq. The same, of course, goes for many of those who join the military only after having received a particularly useful degree (e.g. those with, say, a PhD in fields of biotechnology relevant to the military). |

Most likely they were the ones who used to kick the shit out of geeks like you in school! Right?:thumbsup

As for the instant officer thing, it does work that way over here. When you are admitted to the military academy, you instantly receive the lowest officer rank ("vaandrig"). |

I never had to mingle with cannon fodder :thumbsup |
Many many many officers worked their way through school while being enlisted, then signed up for OCS (officer's candidate school) once they got their degree. After passing OCS, they were then commissioned.
Face it, you couldn't reason your way out of a wet paper bag and need to take that Ubermensch title off your profile. |
Many people join the military, to not only server their country but to better themselves, be it learning a trade or getting money for college. Yes many of our guys and gals didn't have many options except the military to get this education, but in no means does that make them dumb. None of them were given a silver spoons like the one shoved up your ass...you fucktard.
They are willing to put themselves in harms way to acheive their goals. Which is much harder then anything YOU have ever done in your worthless little life. It's very easy for people like YOU to sit in your fat asses, in your little house, hiding behind the anonymity of the internet and judge those that wear the uniform and protect our country. So like the sign on the door says 'GoFuckYourself' |

Besides, Kerry's quote (taken as not referring to Bush, but to the troops), actually objected to dumping these people in Iraq. |
Quote:
And, in case you lost track of the discussion, I was specifically stating that not EVERY (your word) enlisted person was once a low-ranking private serving as cannon fodder. |
Libertine, I like how you pick the replies you can get over on and ignore the ones that point out the error in your thinking.
pitiful really |
Would you gentlemen care to take 2hp |

There is something wrong, though, with them being sent to Iraq, not to "protect their country", but to be forced to risk their lives without any good reason. |

The only point I can think of that I haven't addressed yet is that of soldiers working to be able to go to college. Indeed, many are. They have to work to be able to pay for college because they weren't able to get scholarships based on academic merit. In other words, they didn't do well enough in high school. Happy now? |

if the military was so wonderful they wouldnt of had to lower the requirements to get in or raise the age where now you can join the army up to 42.

You truely are in your own little world! Do you really believe the horse shit you are shoveling? To insinuate that the only reason someone would need to "work" to to pay for college is because their academic merit was lower then others?... In the real world (this doesn't include yours) people even the best and brightest can't always get a scholarship to pay their way. I'm amazed at your twisted logic. You are obviously a very highly intelligent person. I have found most people like you, are called book smart. Which means you lack real world knowledge, street smarts and the most basic common sense. (something our lowly privates over in Iraq have...Guess they are one up on you):321GFY |
