Damage Control = Contest Threads + Higher payouts = GFY Sheep
 

I remember recently being called a sheep because I did not go after netflix and some other mainstream companies with the same piss and vinger that I have felt recently towards AFF for using zango.

It seems the real sheep are the people who forgive and forget because they have the chance to win $50 for being post #50,100,150,200. We all know that most of people who post in these contest " way to go" "great program" "bump to the top" etc... probably are not even affiliates of that company muchless have ever made any sales in their life. I am curious if any of you who actually get sales would change your opinion of a company using spyware and stealing traffic and sales because of a contest thread or a couple bucks more a signup.

What makes AFF's situation so much worse then any other is for one, they are in the adult industry so their directly affect all us here more so then netflix. Two, they post here and conduct business here, I am sure they have made a lot of money from affiliates they have gotten through GFY. Three, they publicly responded about spyware and said they will continue to use it (slap in the face, a big fuck you to everyone here who has helped make them money for years). Then they have gone on to make excuses why they do it (sexsearch made them), try to blame everyone else (everyone else is doing it so why you mad at us), then finally insulting everyone that we are just stupid affiliates, sheep, what do we know.

Well everyone one of you who buys into the "higher payouts" and contest threads are proving them right, you are sheep. So because you might win $50 for being post number 50 makes it now ok for a company to use spyware and steal traffic and signups from everyone else. Is not ok if they pay out $100 a signup but ok if they pay $105 a signup???

If you can't see past this and you are one of the ones who are flocking back to them to make a couple bucks more a signup, then you are proving Lars right, you really are sheep.

GFY and good % of people in this biz are nothing but sheep and flatout simpletons.... I have seen shit throughout the years... very funny how people can fuck over the masses , then law low and then come back and the sheep and simpletons flock to em... funny shit...

Perhaps what some miss is that adware can divert affiliate traffic and sales away from the affiliate who has worked hard for that traffic. These adware programs do have the capability of removing affiliate info and are designed to drive traffic directly to the sponsor; bypassing the affiliates.

Don't they have membership qualifications to weed out bots?

You missed the part of the equation. You need to factor in buying some guys drinks at shows so they'll pop into every negative thread and say "so and so company is top notch bro".

i can name a few of those recently as well. this industry does not unify. when people start realizing that they can spend more time on other things, like looking out for themselves, which is what most of the world does.

there are no friends in this biz. just a whole lotta art of war.

Been like that for years. Most people get into adult just to try making a few extra bucks after work. Really nothing you can do about that.

Humans are communal creatures and as such, the vast majority are genetically programmed to be followers, not leaders. Sheep if you like. Our society could not function as it does, were we otherwise. GFY tends to highlight this reality because almost everyone who does business here - consciously or not - aims for the lowest common denominator and the average visitor profile must surely have come to reflect that.

Tactically, the main reason to use this board to voice opposition to scumware and those who use it, is that GFY is "home" to one of the biggest sponsors at fault. But it is definitely not the board on which to focus, unless you are ready for the phenomenon you are complaining about.

The other thing to bear in mind is that perhaps 90% of the people in this business at any given moment will be gone within 5 years, many much sooner. Some never did see online porn as a long-term thing and others did okay but didn't enjoy the work: but the vast majority simply fail. Whatever the reason they leave, most of the "sheep" belong to that 90%, so it really isn't necessary to worry about how they act.

And that is Lar's mistake: he is playing mainly to webmasters who will soon be gone. Sure there are plenty of others hoping they don't have to do their work over or learn something new. Their AFF/cams promos are still running while they wait to see if he changes his mind. But no-one actually likes being robbed, so you can bet he isn't getting much new promotion on sites with decent traffic. And as people get around to reviewing their promos, slowly but surely other sponsors will be moved in.

I thought in some cases even the sheep would be able to not be missled, I guess I was wrong. The mighty $50 prize is far too much a match for them.

I dislike contest threads. To me, they're like commercials. When I see one, I simply "change the channel."
