I Got A New Cell Phone - PocketPC 8125 - HELP!!!
okay, so after returning my Treo650P's - yes - plural - two of them broke and i was on my third...since APRIL of this year with cingular service - i spent yet another two hours on the phone with cingular to get what was fair - a phone that worked for the price i've already paid for my previous phones (since they never EVER worked right). :helpme
i live in a Mac/Apple world, so this PocketPC is no longer intuitive to me. the Windows environment is difficult to get used to, but i think i'm getting back to it. :helpme my question is for anyone who has this kind of phone or a similar (perhaps older) model - what are your tips/tricks for this phone? the whole reason i want a PDA phone is so that i'm not strapped down to my desk but can still perform business functions from anywhere. (that's how the advertising goes right?) :helpme good mail app? or the propriety one? good multi-messenger program? other tips??? help! i know i could RTFM but i don't have time for that! :winkwink: |
just a bump for you lol...
|
I just bought the treo 700wx from sprint two days ago to replace my old 650
well for me it has everything I need, outlook email, term services client and I installed an ssh client im all set only issue is the lack of a built in wi-fi card but im getting broadband speed over sprints ev-do network around 800k down stable as far as ppc the OS, well its still a microsoft product soits huge and buggy but overall im happy |
yeah i think the PalmOS is just shitty on that phone. i gave up on the Treo and moved on to the PocketPC 8125...i just need a program to hot sync my info from my phone to my Mac PowerBook.
suggestions? |
Bump for you.

my fone reception has gone to shit, it won't hot sync, it lags everytime i try to bring up my text messages, it won't connect to my email box anymore. the list goes one. i am really starting to hate tis phone. but all i have been able to do is keep calling customer support and bitching. eventually i *may* possibly get a new phone from them. :Oh crap but i think very soon i will be taking this back to the store for a new blackberry. |

Get Agile Messenger. It has ICQ, AOL, XMPP, MSN, YAHOO, and GOOGLE. It is also free.
|
I personally use the built in mail, works fine for me for POP accounts, although I've noticed some quirks with IMAP.
Agile is a must have... If you are hardcore into time tracking and tasks, look into Franklin Covey's management system.... works well for me in both PDA and oldschool organizer form. |
trade it in and get a blackberry
|
I use the treo Palm OS

Don't be fooled by the haters - the pocket PC phones rock.
You can run so many apps. Check out sites like http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/ to get the low down on using with a mac. There is mac syncing software available - can't recall the name off hand |
