Sports salaries have gotten way out of hand. Think about that next time you're eating a $5 hot dog and drinking a $7 watered down beer.

Manowar 11-01-2006 11:33 AM

wdsguy 11-01-2006 11:34 AM

Isiah is the idiot who put them in that position. Those are his players and now he has to try to win with them. He'll be gone by the end of the year.

In many cases the team does not own the stadium and makes no money from concession sales, they are simply tenants and actually lease/rent the facility.

Much of that salary came last year when they got off to a poor start under Larry Brown and mgt panicked and started acquiring high priced veterans in hopes of winning. They make so much in TV revenue being in the NY market that they can usually go over the cap and pay the luxury tax without it affecting them. However, they are now realizing that they are going to lose money if they don't take some fiscal responsibility with their team budget. They've trimmed some fat, but not many teams are going to want to trade for overpriced veterans. They'll win a few more this year than last, but they are still a bad team.

Why 11-01-2006 04:36 PM

all i know is paul allen owns the trailblazers and the seahawks. what a pimp

Sosa 11-01-2006 04:54 PM

you got the database all done for nba already? you have to test it out for a while?

Miguel T 11-01-2006 05:04 PM

Wow, thats insane!

EdgeXXX 11-01-2006 05:05 PM

Actually, it's because Manhattan has a much higher cost of living so they are allowed to adjust the players salaries accordingly to compensate for that.
