Looked to buy a old crap US cell phone
My GF is on a 1 month trip to USA and then we found out that in USA everything runs on a GSM1900 net.. :(
So I'm looking for someone that has a old phone laying around they don't need anymore. It should be able to receive calls and call someone. And also send SMS messages and have a batter that last more than 20 hours on standby Other than that I don't really give a shit :321GFY. The phone should not be simcard blocked (meaning you can't put other sim cards into the phone) I'm not looking to spend more than $30-$40 on the phone including shipping (shipping to North Carolina) If you are a regular GFY'er or if I already know you I have no problem prepaying through paypal. So if you got a old shitty phone that works then hit me up on ICQ :) |
depending on where she is...
east coast - verizon everywhere - nextel west coast - singular |
are phones in america even that good yet?
|
The nokia communicator is pretty badass (although, we're the last to get it). I just got a Motorola V60c (verizon service), it's pretty damn good...I'm pleased with it!

It is: North Carolina 27330 USA picpile > Have no idea. apparently they only use GSM1900. They are not as high tech as in EU though. Ace-Ace> The communicator is OLD and UGLY. Not even sure it supports GPRS (kind a like DSL, always on the internet, just from your phone instead) |

Found one so no need to contact me about it now :)

I'm still looking.
The phone must have a SIM card that can be replaced with my own sim card :) |
US phones don't have sim cards, it's kinda like the old NMT phones we had, the subscription is connected to the phone itself...
Another option would be to get her a tri-band phone, its expensive as hell to use it with a european subscription though... And not supported everywhere. |
they must have someway to run dual service, go to your cell company and ask them. they must have a solution. swapping chips or something
I'm sure your not the first person to have this trouble and you wont be the last. |
voicestream has sim cards

You are joking right ? :1orglaugh |
Damn I didn't expect this to be such a big issue.
In Denmark a phone cost from $15 and up. If anyone has a phone with Simcards, single, dual or triple band I don't care as long as it support the US cell phone net hit me up on ICQ and I will most likely be interested :) I don't need a phone subscription or any kind of calling cards |
Hehe, nei, det stemmer nok :-)
Og de har alle forskjellige providers, en del folk jeg kjenner i USA får ikke til å bruke sin telefon i andre byer engang. |
due why not just let her take danish number with her
then deposit 100 kr into coolsms.dk and then she can msg u from there and u could send msg'es to her danish number that way u wouldn't need a us number unless you're gonna call her all the time or vice versa |
or was it that about the gsm1900 net u meant that she couldnt get her danish number to work
fuck im wasted dont mind me im gonna hit the sack now cya |

Tried to buy a phone online also but it required that my payment details was the same as the shipping address wich it is not :( |
If she is only going for a month, get her to buy a shitty prepaid phone when she gets there
|
you can go to almost any gas station here and buy a prepaid phone for about $49.95
or here http://www.verizonwireless.com/ics/plsql/prepay.intro if she is in the east coast |
Ahh the trouble men will go through to make sure their bitch isn't cheating on their vacation :1orglaugh
