Guitarists - Inside Please!
Hey guys - I bought one of these little beauties tonight and wondered if any of you were using one? I saw one demonstrated at a local music store and I was blown away. It's by Line6 and it's called the PodXT Amp Modeler. It has a ton of amp/cabinet sounds & effects and plugs right into the computer via USB cable for recording. :thumbsup

I had a 1st generation Pod back in like 1999 or 2000... it kicked ass
I can only imagine that its gotten better since then |
I hope you have a very agile foot. lol
Seriously, I have a friend that has it. Pretty cool for recording on the PC, but it has no other use. Post some stuff you've recorded with it! |
I've never used one of those but I have a Line6 Spider 2 Combo Amp. I can get some great tones with that so I can only imagine all the tones you'll be able to get. I went and got a cord for my Mac and I can go from my guitar or amp right into the Mac and record it through Garage Band.

I was planning on getting a guitar ever since I sold my drum set. Never got around to doing it because of time issues, but I did have an acoustic bass. Managed to play every single song in Alice In Chans' unplugged album, which is the reason I bought it, but then got bored.

:1orglaugh wtf are you talking about - do you know how many recordings have been done with that and other applications you can do with it? obviusly not because you wouldnt have posted this ill-informed bullshit. |

the posibilities are endless with that. great piece of gear. back in the late 90's we were using amp farm in the studio, the predecessor to the pod. |

That's what the comment really meant. Sorry for the confusion. |

I just ordered a Line6 Spider III 120 Amp (2x10-inch) that has basically the PodXT built into it, to play with. Can't wait till it's here so I can annoy the neighbors. :winkwink: My earlier Line 6 Spider III 120 Amp specs thread. http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showthread.php?t=671697 |

I also picked up a POD for the bass guitar and bought myself a new Gibson Les Paul tonight as well. I have an Ibanez strat that has a beautiful sound so I thought a Les Paul would be a nice compliment to the Ibanez. :winkwink: Howz your new strat working out??? |

can be good if you know what you are doing

I want one. The ones I have borrowed in the past have been great :thumbsup

I'll have to check it out. I have the EMU EmulatorX Studio bundle with the 1820M... which has a built-in processor for processing real-time effects. I doubt there's much I won't be able to do with that. Only problem... no foot switch or controller of any kind other than the software interface.
I've actually been meaning to search for a foot controller that would interface with the card's effects. |
Personally I liked it a lot when first heard them. The more I played it the more I started to hear it as "fake" sounding. That to me is still true with even the best modeling amps, though new VOX ones are pretty damn good! It's just doesn't have the thickness to the sound that the real deal does. But for jamming, practicing, quick recording it's still very cool. Just not authentic.

I had the first gen line 6 head with the pedal board.
I blew the motherboard on it twice. It sounded great for live gigs and pre-production recording. I imagine that the technology has improved since then. |
Line 6 is in the building next to us:-)
