Only in France: Teens torch 100 cars nightly
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061029/...urban_violence
I won't pretend to know about French current events, but here's what I've read: millions of immigrants from Africa move to France for whatever reason. Said immigrants aren't offered "equal opportunities" in France. So instead of proving their worth and making the best of new opportunities (like millions and millions of immigrants have done in the US over the past century), these geniuses decide that the best way to get answers is by setting fire to 100 cars a night every night for over a year. And now, one year after the first huge round of riots, they're starting up again with more riots and crimes, some at gunpoint. And apparently all of these riots have made "France realize that they aren't doing enough for their minorities". LOL, ok. |

In America liberal is close to socialist. I Europe I agree, when referring to economy, liberalism means capitalism :) |
I've never even thought about that. Makes sense. Different perspective.
To Americans, socialism is quite liberal. Any socialist type programs here are considered to be liberal and are usually created by those that are liberal. In Europe, where socialism is more of the norm, capitalism would be seen as a liberal movement. Heh, funny. |
I am sorry but i was reading some sort of it a year and a half when it all started. :)

That doesn't make my statement less true. In fact, the American liberals would probably be considered center-right all over Europe. Quote:

Only in France??

It's really not difficult to understand - these people are simply getting in the face of society again (like their last uprising against Sarkosy, who called them pretty much the scum of the earth), because there is a presidential race on at the moment....
when you don't have a voice, it's pretty frustrating not being heard |
