Windows Vista

Any one know when this comes out?

DWB 10-29-2006 02:39 AM

Nope. But with all the problems I had with XP when it came out, I can assure you I am staying as far away from Vista as I can for a while.

Yeah, I normally do too, but I'm building a computer for my wife and wanted to know.

Sod Vista Install Fedora Core 6 it's got a new eye candy such as a 3D desktop and transparent windows with multiple desktops and windows that wobble when you move them be sure to check it out. Follow the instructions here works perfect.

MaddCaz 10-29-2006 06:12 AM

yea ts gonna be at least a year

StuartD 10-29-2006 06:29 AM

Actually, Vista isn't all that bad... so far I've been very happy with my install of it.
It's still not perfect by any means, but I am impressed and M$ doesn't usually impress me.

fetishblog 10-29-2006 07:41 AM

Vista is "scheduled" to be released in January. Most OEMs will start getting it in November though. I've been beta testing it since the first build, and it's okay. It's like Windows XP with more eye candy, which is pointless for me since I've run the classic desktop and start menu forever. I couldn't give two shits about the eye candy.

Here's a very good reason NOT to install Vista ...

Microsoft limits Vista transfers

Yeah, that part is just stupid... if you buy some computer software, you should have the right to do what ever you wish with it. (to a point)

MaddCaz 10-29-2006 07:49 AM

lift the glass....

DaddyHalbucks 10-29-2006 07:57 AM

I heard February 07.

tony286 10-29-2006 08:39 AM

its going to also be a huge ram pig I will stick with xp pro

Gillespie 10-29-2006 08:42 AM

I'm about to buy a new PC which will be able to run Vista and hopefully Microsoft's next OS, but I'll be damned if I start using Vista before SP1 at the very least.

OG LennyT 10-29-2006 09:09 AM

Win2k for life :)

KRL 10-29-2006 10:07 AM

Microsoft is blowing this one big time. The average user is not going to go out and upgrade their PC's hardware system to meet the required specs required to run Vista smoothly.

Also, most corporations are not into bells and whistles type upgrades which is all Vista really is so the business community will be slow to adapt too.

The limits transfer issue is another major turn off.

I really don't understand MS these days. They are out of touch with their users it seems. I guess when you get that big and powerful you get lazy and become arrogant.

IE7 doesn't have anything special that Firefox didn't already have so it's like playing catchup. If OEM PC's start coming out with FF pre-installed IE's market share will evaporate like crazy and that may start to happen.

Gillespie 10-29-2006 10:16 AM

What limits transfer?

This whole post is wrong. People WILL go out an upgrade their systems. As you know, the transition from XP to Vista will take many years as it did from 98SE/ME to XP. Shit, some people still run those OSes. Microsoft has proven time and time again that they are the industry leaders and STANDARD for most software to be written. What makes you think they will lose this time? LOL stupid post.

Again, as far as corporations are concerned, have you even bother to take a look at the software player? There are several different versions designed and catered to the end user and it's application. Again you look like an asshat.

Limits transfer? Yeah ok, it may suck to a certain degree. Then again, having a bunch of Russian jerkoff teenagers distributing your multi million dallar idea for cheap vodka and cigarette money doesn't sound very fair either no does it clown?

Firefox sucks, and it will never become the industry leading browser no matter how many thick headed webmasters would like it that way. Firefox sucks. It really does. The only reason no one exploits it is because NOBODY USES IT except thick headed webmasters still communicating on ICQ and complaining that it doesn;t function 99% of the time.

And I can tell from what you posted you have yet to use IE7, because had you tried it and took the time to understand it's functionality you would have realized that it blows dumb ass FireFox out of the fucking water.

You are a clown. :2 cents:

The Shame 10-29-2006 11:25 AM

Yeah Firefox sucks, that's why it's been picking up in popularity rapidly over the past year. Tool.
