8pm tonite im on my comp doing some stuff when i hear some guy outside screaming for help. I look out the window and i see two samoan guys beating the shit out of this poor old taxi driver who had dropped them off here. So i grab my trusty aluminum NY yankee bat and headed out the door...My whole mind just snapped into like Aggro-hero mode and as i approached the car the two dudes didnt see me coming . One of the guys legs were halfway out the door . i stopped for a second , watched to see what exactly is happening when i see inside one of the samoan guys took a 9 inch lead pipe accross the korean taxi drivers head.
Snagged the cash from the front. From there i glaced back at the somans leg hanging out the door and i swung my bat at his leg full force as hard as i could imagine. I thought it would give them a scare and frighten them away.. Well i ended up snapping his leg and his bone broke through his skin. The other guy ran off once he seen that happen. While my man with the leg pulled a knife on me ...as soon as i see the shine of the chrome gleem i shoved my bat in his face shattering all his teeth continuing with a kick to his hand to get the knife out. Hit him once more but with my fist i broke his nose. He knocked out . I looked over to the taxi guy his head was bleeding like a waterfountain and he was coming in and out. I wrapped my shirt over him , my gf called 911.
Long story short i dont know if the taxi driver is alive or not. I hope so...that poor guy.....police arrested both the fuckers and i am about to get an assult case filed against me by the samoan robber . .....This is fucked up. Did i do the right thing? I mean shit they would have prolly killed him had i not of shown up.....This is the first time this kind of thing has happend in my neighborhood ...and its fuct up ...

I cant say that you did the wrong thing, if ever I was assaulted you are the type of person I want around.

Get an attorney and your defense is the 'Good Samaritan Act' that alot of states have as law. Even a legal aid attorney usually wins that sort of case. Your state may even have that law and then it is your DUTY to come to the guys defense with 'like means'.... pipe = bat.

You're a hero.. most people would have stayed inside, leaving the poor taxi driver to his fate.

From a legal perspective, you may be charged with assault, however I doubt it. You were doing good and acted in self defence. As soon as the guy flashed the knife in your face, you had every right to hit him. And the time before you hit him you were protecting the cabbie. You can claim you were temporarily insane when you saw the two guys beating him. I'm not a legal expert, but I really don't see how a judge could convict you for assault when you're protecting an old cab driver. He may claim you acted unreasonably with too much force, but I don't think he will. If you shot him, and he had no weapons, then it's a different story, but he had a knife and a iron pipe, so I don't see how you what you did would be called "unreasonable".

You did the right thing....I had the same thing a couple of years
ago in Amsterdam....I was getting robbed by 2 guys with knifes.
I got so heated that I didn't give a fuck and started bashing..

Both were hospitalised I came out with a small flesh wound.
I had to go to court...claimed self defence...there were a lot
of witnesses....but I still got fined and had to go in prison for 5
days..or 240 hours of public service....I chose prison....

They judge said self defence can only be claimed to defend
yourself...in my anger I thrashed those fucks and did quite
a bit of damage in form of fractures, etc, etc...the judge said
that was too much for self defence.....

pretty fucked up....first they try to rob me, threat me with a knife
then when I lose it and hurt the fucks a bit I get penalized...
Well I would still do the same....it was worth those days...
I would do it for strangers too....it's time people start kicking
back since obviously the blue on the streets can't handle it.

You did well and whatever happens next time you should do the
same......The only thing I learned from it is too hurt them more
so the next time they can't press charges.

Man, you did the right thing, regardless of the legal implications. I would think that you would get off the charges with a half decent lawyer, anyway.

Definitely get an attorney, don't try to represent yourself...and then sue the focker for your attorney fees.

I am a woman and a few years ago while I was leaving work I was cornered by a man in a parking garage who was attempting to rob & sexually assault me.

I beat him up and gouged his fucking eyeballs out with my freshly manicured nails leaving him blind for the rest of his life.

Do you know his wife brought a lawsuit against me because now he can't go to work to pay for her crack addiction and it was all my fault? The judge all but shoved the gavel up both their asses and dismissed the case...but yes, unfortunately you will have to through some sort of hearing.

If you beat someone to dead cuz he steals your wallet I can imagine you get locked up but when you beat the hell out of people that try to kill someone for a few bucks your a hero and should get a golden watch.

I watched a documentary on cable a couple of days ago, where they staged a fight in a street in England and a guy was beating a guy with a stick and kicking him on the ground and only 1 out 20 people intervened.

If that taxi driver was my Dad and I wasn't there I wld be glad that you were. And even though it wasn't my Dad I still think it rocks that you put yourself in danger against two attackers who were armed to protect him.

And as other gfy-ers have said use the Good Samaritan defence.

Good luck. Cops can't be everywhere and that's what these attacking pricks know, what they didn't expect was someone like you to be there. Hope the taxi driver is ok too.:thumbsup

You have a right to defend yourself and others.

You aren't allowed to chase after people if they give up and run away. This is where some get in trouble. Sounds to me like that didn't happen here.

You are allowed to use reasonable force to stop an attack.

In the future it is also a good idea to call the police first - or have someone else do it - if possible.
