Going to Japan to buy a PS3

I am thinking of going to japan to buy myself a PS3 . I dont know wether this is possible though ? I was thinking that might have to stand in line for couple of days and then I can buy myself one ?

If I buy one can I just connect it to my European TV ? Anyone got some info on this ? :upsidedow

why go there - if you need someone to buy one and ship it - let me know..

I can ship one for you, it'll be much cheaper then flying here ;)

Make sure you purchase a unit designed for export. Japan, North America, Europe all have different flavors of electricity ... :2 cents: :thumbsup

Maybe I'm showing my age here, correct me if it's now different.

Japanese manufacturers sometimes use lower gauge wires in their domestic products because they use 100 volt verse 110 and 220 else-wear.

This was true in my companies auto service related commercial products.

PS3 20GB = $420 USD
PS3 60GB = $525 USD

so it's cheaper in Japan. But then you have to pay a commission to whoever ships it and the shipping should cost around $100 USD for 5day shipping

Or is that the wii??

that's the wii

PS3 comes here on Nov 11th

You'll never get one in Japan. They are only alotted 100,000 units on launch day. You would have had better luck in the US, where they have 400,000 units at launch, but I guess then the voltage difference would have fucked you.

Hell yeah it will !

Deputy Chief Command 10-28-2006 07:10 AM

its not only about the price, but also about the fun of going to japan only for a PS3 ! ;)

but off course if I go I want to be certain I can buy one ? do any of you japan people can go to a shop for me and ask about the possibilities ? all the available units are reserved ? or can I just go to a shop two days before launch , wait in line a bit and buy one ? some info appreciated

and off course if this does not work out I would be more than interested in having one shipped over !!!
