Am I the last person on earth that just figured out ICQ can't send links?
 

I have been aggravated for 2 days over it, finally someone told me it was a global icq issue.

People kept saying, "man, I never got anything from you?"

I just figured it out 2 hours ago myself. Explained a lot.

It isn't "global." I send links to people all the time.

I sent our designer zip files earlier, went in his office and asked him if he had something to show.

He said I never sent him anything.

Then, when he did, I sent a link of what he made to someone else. They never answered. Finally they said, "So, are you going to let me see it?"

Really strange. Baddog just sent me a link fine.

as evidenced by the fact that Cory and Sly both got the links I sent them

I think it just doesn't like people that live South of the 110 or something.

I get it alot.....

and it is driving me nuts ;-(

if the User does not authorize you he cant see the links

These people for sure authed me.

Granted some of the links I send out are nudes of me, but that shouldn't have anything to do with it.

Seems to be a problem in the US.
I am havinbg issues sending links there, can send them anywhere else AOK though.

I was wondering if it had something to do with Trillian to Trillian being ok but Trillian to ICQ messing up.... Any truth to this?

I use old ICQ and people receive mine. I think the issue is with the recipient though.

I notice this on Tuesday morning. It sucks.

We've been getting around it by leaving off the "http://www" part of the link. That still works.

ICQ used to be great before AOL bought it...

People keep saying then sent me links on icq, etc. never got. and vice versa. very frustrating. I used to be able to send links... hope the problem gets fixed

No, I would be the last person - my ICQ account got hacked/stolen and I haven't used it since :(

I found it out a month ago. i thought the person i was sending the link was so dull that couldn't see it.

sending a link is no prob at all.
mass mailing can be though cuz loads of people deactivate this feature in their own preferences

Using Trillian here - but I figure it's a global ICQ thing or newer versions of ICQ.

Had a conversation to day and the same happened with them sending me links BUT the other person got MY links

I'm using Trillian 3.1 Pro and I'm not having troubles sending anthing to ICQ users including files/links/etc. =)

I already figured it out last Monday.. Maybe you're just late.

I can send links to others, but some people are having trouble sending links to me the last couple of days. As Rochard mentioned, if you remove the http://www part from the link it works for everyone.

it is not a live link, the recepient has to copy paste the link into the browser.

No problems here but been using miranda-im lately. Did have someone say they were having problems sending out but I was seeing their links fine.

It's a weird localised problem, because I've been sending/receiving full http:// links for the last few days without any problems...

It is an ICQ Lite issue only it seems.. get 2003b

I figured it out when I send links to nude pics of myself and the people didn't respond.

I have been very frustrated sending links to icq users. I use trillian and everything is fine. I am getting tired of sending an email for a simple link. I wish there was a fix for this.

Problem has been around for years... its a conflict between different ICQ versions, at least it was. Maybe this is a new problem popping up now.
