wtf is up with the speed of GFY? aren't they hosted at Jupiter? not a very good example of what Jupiter can do....LOL

anyone have any idea why this vbulletin forum is so slow, but some that are 10x it's size and posts are so much faster?

to be honest I think its a pretty quick forum. but i dunno why that is, maybe its coz i post from england. runs pretty smoothly. search button is shot to shit though.

Honestly - I think I found the problem....try it for yourselves.

It's the quicksearch - launch a quicksearch, then try and load GFY in another window....it hangs and hangs and hangs. When your search is done, try loading again - bing, it's done.

This has nothing to do with a local connection, since launching a quicksearch from a remote connection, then testing gfy on a local one...same result.

EH I'm use to it.
I just load 20 threads in firefox tabbed windows and read them as they load.

it was slow before all this new shit you all, it has pretty much always been slow aside from times here and there when the board doesn't have as many viewers

I have no doubts that TD is capable of handling it, but I think the job is beyond enormous due to the fact that it reaches back to years of modifications and shitty coding before him

GFY/ ICS/ Adult.com/ Reality Cash/ Playboy are good people and their board is very fast.. considering the many demands.

I only notice a lag on occasion. Any board with million of posts will have its moments.

There are forums 5x as bigger as GFY working fine.

It is kinda bizarre... they obviously expected great things of the recent "upgrade", but most of the new features I noticed seem to have gone and the board is still painfully slower than it was before the changes.

he's not - it's intermittent. Right now, it's really fast for me.
Then sometimes it's like running through treacle.
Sometimes it just hangs and never loads....


I'll just run a few quick searches and watch it run like sticky treacle....

Just a side note - Although GFY is "Hosted at Jupiter", we no longer are responsible for the server architecture, software layout, OS tuning, or any aspect or portion of GFY.

We provide network connectivity only. We haven't for over a year since the acquisition.

I can asure you that the Jupiter Hosting network is a performance based network. Nothing cheap or slow about it. I invite anyone to come up and take a look at the network and not come to the conclusion it is one of the most well designed networks using the most current high-performance hardware.
