SEO question: dynamic urls vs 'seo friendly' ones
what's the general consensus in the seo community regarding dynamic urls ( eg. www.site.com/function.php?variable=parameter) versus static "seo friendly" urls (www.site.com/keyword1/keyword2)?
some products advertise "seo friendly" url generation... some say se's can't follow/interpret dynamic urls.. others say observe a maximum 4 parameter rule.. blah blah blah... my gut says that if all other seo techniques are observed, there's very little (if any) difference.. for example, if you search google for "computer hard drives", #2 is http://www.canadacomputers.com/index...t&cmd=pl&id=HD , clearly indicating google is able to read and award serp... anyone have anything to share? |
Good question man.
Long time no talk :) |
why risk it? it's not exactly hard to setup "seo friendly" urls...

it's a known fact that having the keyword in the url will improve your rank in most SEs.
why bother having 3 or 4 parameters if there is mod_rewrite which lets me play with keywords in urls as I like? |

It is always better to have static looking url's if you are not running a monster content managment system that is hard to edit then i would change your url's
Remeber keyword-keyword.html is better than keyword_keyword.html |
the SE's are good at indexing dynamic pages however with regars static urls, if you can you should!
