The average surfer has gotten smarter.
In the past in the early days the only way you could find good pictures was to cruise newsgroups (complicated), free sites (hard to find exactly what you were looking for), or join pay sites - where you could find the content you were looking for without having to hunt high and low for it.
Today we have Google picture search and other related tools. Like lesbians? Type in "lesbians" into Google picture search and you can entertain yourself for hours without spending a dime. Paysites are more or less a collection of the content surfers wanted to see, but now it's much easier to find what you are looking for. All of the innovation the adult industry has done has trickled down to all corners of the Internet. I post on a Mustang board devoted to women who own Mustangs with a huge photo archive.
Combine this with the fact that male surfers are more interested in trying to pick up chicks on MYSPACE or spending their time on YOUTUBE..... And there is less of a desire to pay for porn.
What we need here is some new ideas. We need sites with DVD quality videos (which can be played on big ass plasma tvs), hands free photo galleries, interactive games, and the ability to transfer pictures to their cell phones and other mobile devices.

Rochard hit a lot of it right on the money. The other part he didn't hit on, The World Series... Since a large portion of your sales is probably US/CA you need to account for that. Since todays game got rained out I did 20% more than I normally would have on a Wednesday.Comment

For some the numbers rock and for some they are shit, all depends on how you target your traffic and where you get it from. But I do agree with everything Rochard says above, really makes u think doesnt it.

Paycom & CCBill have had problems this week, at different times and at the same time. CCBill was havig issues with reporting joins today. It also appears part of the net has had some dos attack issues this week.

Monday was awesome for us. Tuesday and Wednesday was a little slower but I think things will be kicking up again for the weekend. October has defintely been a strange month though.

Right, although I think it can still be as profitable as the years before if you adapt a bit. I switched alot of my advertising to things surfers can't get for free, like webcam, dating, male enhancement stuff and put up more niche specific sites with content that is pretty hard to find for free.Comment

I must agree with Rochard on a lot of stuff stuff, especially the mobile comment, supplying content to the mobile is like entering a virgin rainforest to cut down trees. There is an expense to set up but the sooner you get in the mobile space the more land you can grab. And once you have the users hooked on your supply to their mobile they are a lot more loyal than they are on the web for rebuying more content. You also have the ability to communicate with thm directly by sending broadcast messages to their phone.
