whats the best video editing program?
 

i need a program to compress and edit videos, i have zero experience with this, i need something to change the files from my video camera dvd stuff into wmv files and be able to remove/move sections of them movies, and put up watermarks and a picture in the beginning and end, anyone got some to reccomend?

Hmm, for an all in one tool, try Final Cut Pro or Vegas. Its a semi steep learning curve but should get you where you want to go

Final Cut Pro on the mac is the only choice IMO. Once you go Mac you never go back. ;)

sony vegas is the easiest professional tool...

I edit with Final Cut Pro HD for Mac

i only use Premiere for any editing

i like premiere personally but vegas might be a little easier to get the hang of.

Vegas is the way to go , you can keep it simple or get as complicated as you want.

Final Cut Pro. If you don't want to spend the money, Final Cut Express will do what you need, and if you decide you want to go to Pro, they will credit you the money you spent on Express.

Both come with LiveType (makes awesome titles) and Soundtrack (makes awesome music tracks).

Pro comes in the bundle, and has DVD Pro and Motion included.

There is a reason Sony purchased Vegas a couple years ago..
avid express is also good.
