My vote will always go for blogs in this race. Much easier to build and maintain and much more profitable for me.

The comparison between TGPs and blogs is wrong. It is more like free sites vs blogs. They are the same sort of traffic but with a switch from the 'build and forget' mentality to 'build and maintain'.
