My dog embarrassed me tonight

Well, it would have been embarrassing if anyone else had been around to see it.

I was taking him for a walk (he is very good on the leash) and we came upon a cat. I am pretty sure the cat noticed us before I noticed him, but definitely before Buddy noticed him.

He was on the other side of a wire fence, so I figured I would see what this rabbit eater would do when he came across a cat. I walked towards it, the cat arched his back. Buddy spotted it, and stepped dead in his tracks.

I think the cat sensed he had the upper hand because he approached us. I think if he wasn't on a leash Buddy would have turned tail and run. I practically had to drag him past the cat! I couldn't believe it.

I am just glad no one else was there to see it. I am still trying to think of a suitable punishment.

Smart dog.
A cat can do serious harm to a dog, especially if they're semi-wild, not declawed and shit.

My dog is a bit 'scared' of my mom's cat as well. Although the 'chase-reflex' comes into play as soon as the cat decides to tease my dog and run away. Luckily the cat is relatively kind and my dog only had a few encounters with the cats claws :)

I understand the theory of tread lightly, but there was a damn fence in between them . . . he could at least act like he would be tough. Well, I guess I have to give him credit, he did bark a couple times. I think that is when the cat started approaching him and he showed his true colors. :1orglaugh

My standard sized cat chased a huge german sheperd out of the yard once. She did have kittens at the time so she was a lot more aggressive... don't mess with a mother cat!!

soulbleed 10-25-2006 02:14 AM

i was expecting some kind of penis comparison between you and your puppy, hence the embarassment

Tempest 10-25-2006 02:21 AM

My dog is 100 lbs... loves to "hunt" and chase things.. If a cat stands up to him he'll just stand there and even back away.. but if the cat runs he'll chase it and grab it in his jaws... he's... ummmm.. "damaged" some cats... I always have to keep a good eye on what's going around me cause 100 lbs of dog taking off after something will take me off my feet in a second.. And I'm not a little guy.

Agreed. I have 2 de-clawed cats and a dog in my house and the cats are always swiping at the dogs face.
If they had claws then my dog's face would look like ground hamburger and thered be blood all over the house.

emthree 10-25-2006 03:41 AM

Congrads. You raised a pussy.

en21 10-25-2006 04:25 AM

what a pussy

Wiggles 10-25-2006 04:26 AM

cats are prety deadly, not many people know it but they can spit a type of venom, usually when attacked they do a hiss and spit in the other animals face, its blinds them and can do alot worse. My next door neighbours dog had that happen to it and they almost lost the dog, it lost most of its fur, skin peeled off, wierd shit.

PurrrsianPussyKat 10-25-2006 06:05 AM

Has he ever seen a cat before?

My basset likes to play with my cats, but he knows enough to keep his tender nose end away from their nasty feets! :)

rodney25 10-25-2006 07:25 AM

Aint you considering the possibility that your dog might be in love?

donross 10-25-2006 07:28 AM

just mention your "GFY nick" and tied him up for a week.. that would do..

LittleSassy 10-25-2006 08:04 AM

Beat me to it. Yeah, I've seen some bad infections from simple cuts and scratches from strays. I wouldn't bother sending my dog after cats...I can see how you just wanted it to fuck with it but still...

Jman 10-25-2006 08:12 AM

My neighbours dog went after my cat once. Cat bounced and gave 2 good swings with each paws. Dog got down, put his nose between is paws and when he got back up he had the nose sliced open by my cat.

Dog never came close to our driveway anymore. I was about 8 years old and pretty damn fucking proud of my cat ;-)

Sosa 10-25-2006 08:44 AM

Our lab chases my moms cat all around the house. He isn't scared one bit but the cat is afraid of him.

CaptainWolfy 10-25-2006 09:06 AM

i love dogs, and don't belive that the punishmant is proper way to threat the dog, you should act at the moment of his weaknes!

Hey, he killed a rabbit, I had no idea he would be afraid of cats. Besides, he isn't even 3 months old yet, so he is hardly "raised."

Most puppies are scared of cats. A cat will fuck a puppy up -- :1orglaugh
