Paysite owners, owners to be, & those considering it.

What were the reasons or thoughts that lead you to opening up or wanting to open a paysite?
  • Right time right place?
  • Had the content, so why not?
  • Felt you could do a better job than what was available?
  • You were or are the the focus of the site?
  • Had traffic and were tired of being just an affiliate?
  • Accusations of sponsor shaving and other losses drove you to it?
  • The niche you desired was not available or was done poorly?
  • More money in paysites, the American dream, the American Day dream, etc?
  • You are of the personality type where you must be in control?
  • Other reasons, that you will share or not share?

More reasons:)

fuzebox 10-23-2006 01:49 PM

I will open my own in the next 6 months, because I know I can do it better than most people and I can make way more money with my own traffic.

BVF 10-23-2006 01:49 PM

I was out finding girls on the streets for years before the internet...I didn't know any better so I didn't follow the advice NOT to start a paysite..Turns out that my microniche was underserved plus a lot of other factors in the ebony niche made it work.

woj 10-23-2006 01:50 PM

I would imagine it's a combination of many reasons, but the most important would be "More money in paysites, the American dream, the American Day dream, etc?"

Right place and right time+The niche you desired was not available or was done poorly+I had non commercial sites dedicated to ladyboys with big free members base+I love ladyboys and they love me,so its easy to make it happen..:thumbsup

I would also imagine many would have several reasons. I am just curious as I do not recall seeing this conversation here on gfy yet.

I like BV's response so far, fuzebox's was also good. I like to see the actual thoughts or reasons.

If people were willing to explain the why's I feel this could be a productive business thread. Maybe some may find like minded people or new contacts and what not. Then again it could just develop into another I am not going to share shit because my ideas will change adult forever once I get enough money to get it done.

HAHA, to see naked 'girl next door' women pose. But that was MANY years ago lol :)

I wish the traffic guys who push big numbers to paysites would just start their own sites. This business would be much better.

the indigo 10-23-2006 03:41 PM

Because fighting with saturation gets boring after a while.

You need to find new good sponsors, switch sponsor, build new galleries, etc. so you waste must of your time trying new things instead of building long term cashflow.

That is only if you can push the paysite yourself without dozen of affiliates...

GregE 10-23-2006 05:14 PM

More or less in the following order:
  1. You are of the personality type where you must be in control?
  2. Felt you could do a better job than what was available?
  3. Right time right place?
  4. More money in paysites, the American dream, the American Day dream, etc?

Barefootsies 10-23-2006 05:15 PM

Any number of reasons. A lot of them already listed.

One of the biggest was "ownership". When you own the copyright, you have more avenues for making coin.

:2 cents:

I'll take a stab at these for you mate.

* Right time right place?
Yup, plus I had been around for long enough and had a good grasp on basic traffic generation. If I wasn't able to send sponsors sales as an affiliate taking the leap and opening up my own paysite would be a simply a tax write off.

* Had the content, so why not?
Exactly. Years of bought niche content used to push other niche paysites as as an affiliate. So I had enough to start up a paysite.

* Felt you could do a better job than what was available?
Yes and No. In my niche yes there are a lot of pox sites, but then there are also a lot of good quality sites as my comp.

* You were or are the the focus of the site?
Nope.

* Had traffic and were tired of being just an affiliate?
Yuppers. Why send x amount of sales to someone else for x ratio on 50% revshare. When I could send the same sales on x ratio to my own paysite and get at least 60-70% minus processing fees. (not factoring in after payout overheads/running costs)

* Accusations of sponsor shaving and other losses drove you to it?
As the sponsors I primarily pushed were all revshare based, no this was never a factor.

* The niche you desired was not available or was done poorly?
Both, just decided it was time for me to take a stab at it. With years of content and existing traffic even if it all went tits up the loss would be minimal.

* More money in paysites, the American dream, the American Day dream, etc?
Dunno I'm from Aussie land. :)

* You are of the personality type where you must be in control?
Nope, but we all are in control of our businesse/s in one way or another.

* Other reasons, that you will share or not share?
As an affiliate you don't get credit for upsells, ability to send existing cc verrified members newsletters promoting other products/services/sites. You also don't get to play about with the exit traffic.

Nice answer nekrom, thanks for sharing.

Brooke Anderson 10-23-2006 06:15 PM

Right time right place..

Grant and I were at a swingers party and ran into Anna and Bruce of 4RealSwingers. So, we had no idea at the time, just had drinks, and we all fucked our brains out. After the fact we asked what they did for a living.. they said porn. Our site went live a few months later. :)

More money in paysites, the American dream, the American Day dream, etc

Money always helps motivate us.

For one we wouldn't have to put up with all the bullshit contests on this board, primarily aimed at postwhores and dumb surfers.

Me and hubby made our first paysite [oral, deepthroat] two years ago. We had the big cock, the mouth, the oral skills and nothing but free time. It's been great, being able to work together and learn new stuff every day. Hubby did the first few designs while we were both furiously learning html :winkwink:

Then I took over the maintenance and the design of the site and soon started building and sites to other girls who wanted to be in total control of their content like us. I still webmaster a few sites and get a new site "under my wing" every couple of months. But the main project is our own site AnnaSucks.com.

I just love everything about it and I doubt I'll ever stop.
