We want him gone -- he's gone... no doubt about it! |
These poor families that lost people in 911, it's bad enough that their loved ones died horrible painful deaths but nothing was fucking done about it. We freed a bunch of Afgan people.
um..yay what about the people who did this to us? No fucking retribution, just "he's in hiding somewhere. Oh and watch your back because there are thousands of cells waiting to stike when you least expect it. And since theres nothing we can do about it we're going to go after another Sadam. Have a nice day" |

Unfortunately that Sept. 11th political capital is running out. His approval ratings are again falling, and people are beginning to speak openly about the large number of non-combatant Afghan civillians that have been mistakenly killed in this "war." This wouldn't be so bad if there were tangible positive results. So far the progress consists of the Taliban being replaced with an only slightly less repressive group of Islamic fundamentalists. We all should remember what happened to Bush Sr. 10 years ago. His ratings soared after the Gulf War for a year, then died, and he lost the election over policy issues 2 years later. Shrub apparently learned from that. When his ability to flog this "war" for votes and ratings points fails, he'll just start another one. But maybe I'm just cynical! :winkwink: |

So I take it none of you were listening when everyone and their mother who was in a position to know said this had the potential to be an operation that went on for years, right?
Maybe the rest of the world is right...Americans are stupid people with no ability to last in a long conflict. They want everything tidied up and done in 2 months, and if it's not they'll start whining about how nothing is being done. |
God damn it why can't we just hurry the fuck up and take over the world:feels-hot
J/K :winkwink: |
and a couple days back they say they caught his stepson entering the us illegally to go to flight school. gee.

The death toll to Afghan civillians is going to be the death knell for this one, not the length of time. There is *alot* of that sort of stuff that has yet to be widely publicized. |
It's also arguable that they said it because...well..they knew it would be a long operation and they didn't want the country looking for a 2 month war. :winkwink:
Plenty of things *had* to be blown up. Al Qaeda and the Taliban did have a number of military targets that required destruction. They were destroyed. What people are failing to remember is the magnitude of this entire operation. It's a lot more than flying to Afghanistan and dropping a bomb on Bin Laden's head after he puts his big, bad guy, black hat on so we can see him easily. Al Qaeda was spread throughout the world. It involved squeezing them in every way possible, from killing their funding, to seizing their assets, to removing their asylums, to destroying what little military they had, to all kinds of crap. It was a large, complex operation. Watching CNN doesn't give anyone a true glimpse of everything that is going on, and anyone who thinks they know the whole situation from that little stream of info is nuts. Our military is trained well and provided with top notch equipment...it doesn't mean everything gets done in a day. I'm more than willing to let the people who are trained to do this shit, do it, and have a little patience in the meantime. |
kill em all, let god sort em out.

"Citing a person familiar with the document, the newspaper said the highly classified plan calls for air, land and sea-based forces to attack from three directions in a campaign to topple Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein......."
I realize the White House leaks what they want to be published, but to give this information about the hows and wheres is a bit much I'd think.. |

Hermann Goering said it best: "Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." |
Quote:
Actually, I agree with most of that. I don't like a lot of things Bush said during this whole period. But I'm also not about to second guess the military. Rag on the way politicians do things? I'm there. I love bashing politicians. They all say stupid shit, and most of them are dumb opportunists with the collective backbone of a jellyfish. Rag on the military blowing up some people in Afghanistan or not having killed Bin Laden already? I'm not there. It happens during military conflicts, I couldn't do any better if I was there, and I'm happy as hell someone else is off fighting so I don't have to. I will always support the military, and except in cases of EXTREME negligence (bombing London by mistake for example), I'm not really too quick to jump on people who are out there risking their lives while I sit on my ass behind a computer. |

Fair enuff too, since GWB wouldn't know if his ass was on fire - let alone if Osama's hiding there... |

:thumbsup For everyone else, here is the "For Idiots" version: US power is waning, and has been for some time. Only hawk strategy lunatics disagree. The japanese built a really, really powerful computer. See! I told you so! Therefore, the US will continue to decline, so descend gracefully, dammit! |

Make the enemy spread his defense out to try and cover every conceivable point of attack. It spreads the defense out, weakening every point(s) of attack you actually intend on using. Now instead of just stocking up on air defense (for example), he has to try and use his limited resources to cover everything, which makes attacking certain things easier. |

If you recall in the Gulf War, Marines were kept off of the coast, and a lot of press covered this, making Sadam's forces think that they would make a landing when the ground war started. This tied down alot of Sadam's forces, while the "Hail Mary" end run was made. |

While I think we can do better. It's not like we aren't catching these assholes around the world. And cutting off their funding where ever possible. We are making progress, and will continue to. |

Keep hoping we know better! Iraq is a complete joke that relys on outdated Russian hardware, why do you think that Russia keeps supporting them? Because they don't want their Migs, and Scuds (LMAO) tested against a real military force. Let's not forget that the "NATIONAL GUARD" is a joke, and the Iraqi Army surrendered to CNN... LMAO.... LOL.... This isn't a rouge group that can RUN, and HIDE whilst they send there children into suicide missions, this is a nation that will have a new leader soon :) Plus for you non-Americans.... they have almost the same amount of oil as the Saudis do.... So we want it :D |
> WW3 is upon us... Sadam won't go out like a pussy
Finally someone with a brain cell. There's no question that Sadam or allies will hit back in one way or another and if september 11 is anything to go by, it will be very well put together and ultimately probably catastrophic for the world. Don't underestimate the vengeance, there would be huge support behind it. |
yea, we will have a real tough chicken shoot this time.
This time i say they surrender to FOX news, not CNN. This will completely upset the natural balance of the Iraqi surrender, and could possibley cause a shift in the natural Iraqi surrender policy:) If you don't feed your troops, they will not fight for you. just a note that I thought the Iraqi Government needs to know!! |
