im pretty sure your host needs to have this installed. contact them to get it put onto the server system wide.

needs to be server based.

Zarathustra 10-21-2006 04:44 PM

yes it can be on a virtual host. its alot better than zend

ionCube Loaders is what you need
Simply create a ioncube dir in your root www and install

Find out what your server is and download the correct version here

http://www.ioncube.com/loader_download.php

P.S. No it is not serverside installed like Zend, nothing more needs to be done

baddog 10-21-2006 04:46 PM

Pretty sure we have it on a few virtuals per customer request.

GrouchyAdmin 10-21-2006 04:47 PM

No, you don't need ioncube to be installed by the admin.

One of the reasons to use ioncube is that you can encode your program in it, create a ../ioncube directory, and add the loader library for your OS, to that directory, and call it good.

directfiesta 10-21-2006 04:49 PM

seems like it can be just for virtual. unlike Zend library:

Yeah, listen to the guys above. You need the loader files. Shouldn't have to install anything on the server to get ioncube encoded scripts working.

ok. form my host's site: operating system Linux Slackware

on the install page:
Linux (x86)
Linux (x86-64)
Linux (ppc)

which one do I choose?

borked 10-21-2006 11:42 PM

what is your server's chip? if it's 64-bit, choose x86-64. If it's not, choose x86. It most certainly won't be a mac, so you forget ppc.

I figured that out last night but I couldn't install it, I ran some installation-helper file and it told me that I couldn't do "Run-time Loading Installation" on this server (something was disabled for security reasons) so I contacted the host to do it for me
