July 4 - 5: sign ups down

Indeed.

have you noticed ?

some_idiot 07-05-2002 07:08 AM

Nope, 6 sales. 5 AVS and 1 pay. Plus the most downloads
of HistoryKill in a single day.

Not seeing this "summer" slowdown, when is it supposed
to get here?

eru 07-05-2002 07:24 AM

Signups were down a bit yesterday but are fine today.

funkmaster 07-05-2002 07:35 AM

... to be honest, I have just expirience the 2 best days of this year ... kinda confused ...

[Labret] 07-05-2002 07:37 AM

No change, completely average day.

Traffic a little lower than usual, but conversions strong.

G Sharp 07-05-2002 07:46 AM

I guess it depends on how you get traffic. Mine come primarily from double optin email traffic and traffic is fine but signups are way lower than normal.

DarkJedi 07-05-2002 09:11 AM

well, search engine traffic was/is low, thus - fewer sign ups

DarkJedi 07-05-2002 09:12 AM

simple explanation: when people realised they've just signed up for spam-o-rama rather than free passwords and movies, they just block your email address. :winkwink:

Wizzo 07-05-2002 09:13 AM

Yea, mine we a little low, but no lower than any other holiday. :Graucho

pr0 07-05-2002 09:14 AM

yesterday was better than the 3rd...& today is starting off a little slow

PissOff 07-05-2002 09:47 AM

Some Idiot...just curious..what are your conversions on Historykill? I only average about 1 in 75 downloads..nowhere close to the 1 in 15 that they quote.

Gutterboy 07-05-2002 09:50 AM

Yesterday wasn't bad, a little below average maybe, but this morning has been very slow.

Not that I'm surprised. Last thanksgiving weekend my sales plummeted from a 7-10 daily average to 1 sale in 3 days, then came back to normal overnight. Traffic stayed about the same.

PissOff 07-05-2002 10:22 AM

Just shows that there really isn't an "across the board" trend in traffic or sales. Wednesday was the best day I have had in 2 years...today looks like it will come in as the second best...yesterday was as good as any other day.

For every person that can point to sales slowdowns, there's going to be another that can say the opposite.

I'm doing 1 in 35 over the last 3 months. Yeah not the
1 in 15. HistoryKill seems to have been too late in the
game. Sure it's cheaper than InternetEraser, but
everyone already has something like it.

I sell it as a popup killer, nobody believes that line
about protecting your job.

SirTreX 07-05-2002 10:37 AM

50+ sales today

I fully agree with this. We would have someone start a "dip in sales" topic once a week on a board I used to frequent. Every webmaster who had sales slightly lower than the day before would respond and a "slowdown" would be proclaimed. It never seemed to occour to anyone that probably 99% of webmasters had slightly different results than the previous day, and that 50% of those were probably dips.

That said, I do think a "summer slowdown" of 10-15% is a reality, and that major holidays tend to produce slightly lower sales and traffic. The reason some people don't see the summer slowdown is because their growth makes up for or exceeds whatever drop occours.

Fletch XXX 07-05-2002 11:48 AM

same here, traffic down, but quite a few sales actually.

You have to play on the fact that guys home alone looking for porn on Holidays, WILL pay for it.

mike503 07-05-2002 12:37 PM

i saw an increase in signups but decrease in traffic on my mainly mainstream site (which links to ifriends)

this week's been my best week yet, and i still have till EOD tomorrow to make it even better!

mGreg 07-06-2002 02:29 AM

Less traffic, more signups. score :winkwink:

kmanrox 07-06-2002 02:30 AM

the past 2 days Oliver has hit all time record sales, and yes, I was expecting a HUGE drop and couldn't believe the records set the past 2 days.

quiet 07-06-2002 02:37 AM

$19,397.60 total sales for the 4th and 5th. things are okay.

can i be your surrogate bastard child? i'm jealous.

Mr.Fiction 07-06-2002 03:31 AM

Traffic patterns, and ups and downs at certain times of the year are real, but if your growth outpaces the decline in traffic, then you might not be effected. There are also a certain number of sites that may not feel it for some or no reason. That doesn't change the fact that the patterns are real.

Some of you would probably claim that retail sales don't go up at Christmas if your little store happen to get less sales for whatever reason.

There are undeniable trends in internet traffic, and they exist whether a few specific sites see them or not. Denying traffic trends is a hobby of some adult webmasters, though.

I agree with you. And those newbies which are in the business or claim to be in this business :) for less than a year should go fuck themselves as they don't have any rights to talk about this topic.

Juge 07-06-2002 08:58 AM

Hell, yeah.

Things are better today, though.
