Why is this industry so full of asskissers?

A "respected" webmaster, program owner or whatever can use stolen content, use underage content or scam affiliates, and the majority of people in adult will still stick up for them, while most others will just keep quiet.

Meanwhile, if an honest but little-known webmaster so much as misspells a word, carnage ensues.

What the hell is up with that?

Jace 10-20-2006 08:16 AM

fuck ass kissing, even if I know you and love you, I will tell you exactly what I think,, whether it be good or bad

I get sick of the fucking ass kissin too, and it is SOOOOO fucking obvious most of the time

polish_aristocrat 10-20-2006 08:16 AM

another question - if a respected webmaster posts a shitty domain and asks for opinions about it.....

you can be sure that everyone will say how great it is :winkwink:

How to define "respected webmaster"?

CheneyRumsfeld 10-20-2006 08:26 AM

you are a soothsayer.
you really are.

jayeff 10-20-2006 08:30 AM

Except for the sig whores - and they get the exposure at no risk if they stay positive - GFY is not different than any other group of people. Most people want to fit in...

"Respected webmaster" = someone who goes to many shows, has a lot of big names on his/her icq list, and owns/owned/works for/worked for one or some of the bigger companies in the industry. Basically, someone with good networking skills.

hmansfield 10-20-2006 08:51 AM

Yeah, I'm didfinitley figuring that out, I thought I could come with an honest deal and get some negotiators, or at least some people in the "money business", like in other forums. It's about half and half. The real players, will contact you directly and dont have time to play the dozens on the boards.

A lot of lookee-luus, will try and tear down your confidence, and try to get you to drop your to pennies, and then that same guy will jump on the deal.
Those kind of people should really not click here. Really don't do it: www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/youare/swf

Klen 10-20-2006 08:53 AM

Well some people live of ass kissing. There is even occupation called ass kissing.

its way worse that there are 9000 NOEW SOLO GIRL posts every week and the girl is maybe a 5 or 6 and everyone tells them that plain jane girl is gonna be awesome. i don't think people know what to look for in solo girls anymore.

Aneros Josh 10-20-2006 09:04 AM

I'm pretty sure that asskissing is going to be everywhere you go...when you're in the Military, your rank is based on time in service, time in rank, and test scores but there was more unnecessary asskissing going on there than I have ever been around here

you don't even need any of that shit...just to be looked at with respect among your peers...a hard worker that gets shit done and has a reputation for good things is what gets respect in my book

Note that I am talking about "respected webmasters", not about respected webmasters. The quotation marks are intended to emphasize the dubious nature of the phrase - it isn't about actual, well-earned respect, but about the social status of certain people.

SxDx 10-20-2006 09:18 AM

What the hell is up with that?

There are ass kissers all over the place but yeah I've got to agree that the adult industry is totally fucked.

Same with 'dont call them whores its bad for the industry' but those same people will take on girls as talent just because theyre desperate for the money, knowing that they've not thought about the consequences of getting into porn.

The people most talked about on this board are the people who sit posting here all day....Some of them not even owning websites of their own but they slag off a sponsor, program or script that they've hardly even pushed and boom... all hell breaks loose.

The talk you hear from the industry get togethers is very rarely business but 'look who got drunk and fell over'...You hear few people talk about the seminars but tonnes of people talking about the parties.

Sponsors moan about the little guys having shitty ratios but prey on the newbies hoping to get them signed up..Instead of complaining about how few signups these poor clueless newbies are getting why not teach them how to make dollars using your program, give them the tools they need for traffic gen, include them in the traffic trades of your feeder sites etc... Very few sponsor programs actually do that!

Oh and then there's the censorship issue, 'no violence', 'no watersports' says one who promotes 'sleep sex', and 'spying on women', 'no bareback' says another who's pushing a 'all you can eat bukkake' site etc etc.... And let's not forget the adamant no-CP teen sponsors who are quite happy shooting their legal teens in a way that makes them appear as though they are underage..

Then you see a couple of webmasters who bust their ass off to make something new and untapped niches but instead of getting support from the majority of webmasters out there, you're lucky if you get a bump on a message board.

Instead the majority are flocking to the latest Teens, MILFs, Solo-Girl and Twink sponsors then complain that their ratios are still just as poor...

You're all assholes. But funny ones, and ones that I'm learning a lot from.

:thumbsup

</ass kissing>

care to be a little more specific on who uses underage content and yet we all stick up for them - or are they just happening to use women that you (without looking at the 2257s) "think" are underage.

As far as affiliates etc. that is tough to prove, but it does not go un-noticed when webmasters ask privately who to use.

Stolen content if found out usually is dealt with through lawyers or other means. So be more specific on who you think people are kissing ass too who has underage stolen content?

BoyAlley 10-20-2006 09:39 AM

I think you're confusing asskissing with analingus.

Well, a recent example of *hardcore* underage content would be GUBA. Lesbodojo is their spokesperson on GFY, and although GUBA now is disliked by most people (which took a pretty long while), Lesbodojo is still treated with more respect by most people than the average noob is.

Grapesoda 10-20-2006 09:50 AM

So those "respected" ones have earned their respect in any way but hard working. I do not call that respected. Itīs pretty much the same with postcounts. Postcounts can show that the poster hasnīt got other work to do and is able to post all day long. On the other hand of course it could be that this poster is such succesful that he has his work done by employed workers.

Arenīt those who cheer to those "respected" webmasters the ones with hardly three month membership and a 3 million postcount?

fair enough - so thats like 1 in 8000 roughly... is there a percentage of asskissers to underage stolen content people you want to offer that would change that number? sorry I just dont see alot of webmasters dealing or allowing someone to use the content you suggest that are sucked up too

Like I said before, the quotation marks are intended to convey the dubious nature of this type of "respect". In this industry, many gain "respect" not through success, hard work or talent, but through popularity and the ability to be associated with those who actually do achieve things.

The ones who cheer them on, though, quite often are real webmasters, some successful ones even. Particularly if the person in question is a woman, there are very few people who dare say that the emperor has no clothes.

Underage is fairly rare, stolen content is fairly rare, cheating affiliates is fairly rare, using spyware is fairly rare, scamming surfers is fairly rare, spamming is fairly rare, stealing designs is fairly rare... I could go on. Together, though, they add up. And when these things are exposed, the initial response from many is often "stfu, webmaster x is good people".

Granted, the underage thing is pretty rare these days, but a few years ago it was quite common, with underage non-nude and artistic nude sites being promoted by quite a few webmasters.

amateurcanada 10-20-2006 10:38 AM

haha, as everyone wants your secrets and traffic LOL. i mispell everything on my sites, everything but the names and addresses of the partners i pay so who cares hahaah :D

very well thought out and said. :thumbsup

It seems to me that ppl kiss ass either if a webmaster is succesful without checking the truth OR that everybody kiss a girl's ass at the minute she post a pic of her boobs even though her site sucks or what she states is completely out of context most of the time. You dont have a vagina or dont show it on the board and you get the whole fuck-off-noob bullshit.

It is although very funny to see big webmasters giving shit to all the ppl with 'no face' but start giggling and praising to a pair of boobs as babies does when you shake a set of car keys in their face. :2 cents:

i agree, or if a newbie comes into the market he is already doomed until he proves himself to the masses and kisses up as much as he can.

i think the business is about who you know (and who likes you) more than what you know.
