So what happens to the Iraqi people who supported the americans when we leave?

The Iraqis will be gratefull to have been liberated and given a peacefull and prosperous democracy. Women will take their deserved place in society, making of Iraq a model to all the neighboor dictatorships ....

A handful of them will be given sanctuary in the USA or manage to escape later (like the Vietnamese boat people in the 70's) but the rest of them are fucked.

Iraq itself will be like Lebanon in the 80's, in a state of perpetual civil war that will carry on for at least a decade, probably longer. Much longer.

The Iraqi people by and large will recall lovingly their years of relative tranquility and prosperity under Saddam Hussein as "the good old days".

It is a sad situation with absolutely no solution :(

USA is not prepared to withdrawal everyone - Bush knows well enough to walk away means that the terrorists win - not too mention USA will feel humiliated that after all their efforts, they were beaten by someone they feel has lesser military capabilities or training. This will turn into a pride issue if it hasn't already - no one is coming home - even the soldiers would have a hard time walking away from this knowing what they have lost already... loosing pride in ones country and military is something they simply wont tolerate

There were no WMD. Iraq had and has no ties to Al Quaeda. Our government went into iraq and forgot all about Afghanistan where the real terrorists are.
