It must be a conspiracy, they're really aliens or something, right? (haha I AM kidding). Another freak stingray accident.. wtf!?

MIAMI, Florida (Reuters) -- A leaping stingray stabbed an 81-year-old Florida boater in the chest, authorities said Wednesday, leaving its poisonous stinger lodged close to his heart in an incident recalling the one that killed Australian TV naturalist Steve Irwin last month.

Fire Department officials in Lighthouse Point, about 30 miles north of Miami, said James Bertakis was in a small recreational boat with two grandchildren Tuesday when the spotted eagle ray leaped aboard and struck him.

thats pretty dam crazy i saw an article not to long ago about a marlin jumping out the water and doing the same thing to a fisherman on a charter boat

marlin have been known to spear fisherman more often than the stingray.. the Marlin is a extreme fighting fish.

very unlucky..way less chance of that happening when you are sitting in a boat minding your own business than what happened to Steve.

I'd been fishing quite a few times in really calm water and got the crap scared out of me by huge spashes right behind me. By the time I looked around I saw nothing.

Happened a bunch of times and I didn't have a clue what it was until one day it happened in front of me. It was a huge manta ray about 4-5 feet across.. leapt right up out of the water.

It's not like they are catching flies or something..they must just do it for fun like dolphins

I just saw this too. I thought these creatures rarely attacked. Now they are jumping up onto people boats... WTF

I think Irwin pissed off the whole lot of them. Only swimming in pools for me...
