Need some advice please on a new server, what should I do?
G'day,
Reason for this question is I am not too sure what should be setup on a unmanaged server and what should be already setup ready to go. I can't get through to tech support for some of my questions; ie: ----- Transcript of session follows ----- ... while talking to hostcentrex.com.: >>> DATA <<< 451 Temporary local problem - please try later <[email protected]>... Deferred: 451 Temporary local problem - please try later <<< 503 valid RCPT command must precede DATA Warning: message still undelivered after 4 hours Will keep trying until message is 5 days old ------------- Anyhow I feel that I should continue giving with this one and give it a good go so my questions are; 1) Is there a Company who can perform some tasks (for a fee) to setup; The following have not been installed; Apache Webserver / FTP server / DNS / PHP / Mail / MySQL Aww my head hurts cause I am on other unmanaged server where I these simple things are already installed.. Good thing I can say is that I learnt about the command yum today... Hosthead Guys, I miss you guys and I think I know what I will do this week! Thanks, and am open to any kicks in the gutt right now guys so fire away! Mark |
Thats why I am always on managed servers, full support...

yum install mysql-server mysql php-mysql php httpd
would install the things mentioned just google the exact name of what you need, such as "perl-DBD-MySQL" and install it by typing yum perl-DBD-MySQL [Press Enter] and so on... |
Dump question, but why would you get a unmanaged server if you know nothing about being a server admin?
Setting up a server and keeping it running are not for the unexperienced. |
I do mainstream hosting. We have a very robust solution.
