If it's Wordpress, here's how you back up and restore your databases. I used this to move 3 different blogs.

thanks for the replies

the problem is that I have a client moving from its former host over to my hosting services but we dont want the previous host to know until the mirror/move is complete so no access to the SQL database

its moveable tye

Pointless 10-18-2006 09:58 PM

you can setup a wordpress blog without having access to the database, as long as you know the address and login credentials.

the previous hosting company was one of those shady outfits that like to keep control of everything so that the client was completely in control of all aspects of their websites

even had ownership of the domain name

the reason I got involved was due to the 3k a month bill they were paying for SEO with a PR1 when I checked into the domain site etc I found that the site did not contain the most basic SEO requirements not even a robots or sitemap

soooo now the client is pissed and will most likely take the previous host to court ( nasty situation )

that being said the client has nothing to work with except the sites that are online right now bad enough I have to do some serious .asp to php work but now the issue with the blog

:Oh crap
