Are fireworks legal where you live?
 

When I was a kid, they were pretty much legal in most places in So Cal. Now it seems like most cities here have made fireworks illegal. Not firework shows, but the type you can go buy.

I was amazed when I lived in New Orleans and learned that they pretty much sell fireworks year round. I got to shoot roman candles at my neighbors rooftops, it was pretty exhilarating.

Someday I want to live in the middle of the desert, so I can blow things up year round.

why have they been outlawed?

Southern California = mostly desert.

Most residential neighborhoods do not allow them. :(

It's illegal state-wide here in Ohio (aside from Sparklers I think?).

Do not use them, especially at a wedding.

Illegal in most areas but a few citys have them , thus a huge migration to the cities like Garden Grove, Stanton and so on...

anything that blows up or leaves the ground is illegal here in michigan. fortunately, we can buy them from ohio which is right across the border.

Fireworks: illegal.

same here in oregon. stuff in the air isn't allowed, but next door in washington, 5th exit in is one of the biggest fireworks stands around. and they sell to us :) in fact, i bet we're the majority of their business..

kinda funny to see all the neighborhoods around here. the stuff's illegal yet almost 1 out of every 5 groups/families seems to have some illegal stuff :)

I got a big collection of fireworks, got a good deal too, in a gift shop in NY about a year ago but I have to admit it was mostly fountains (some really good ones) and other "non-flying" fireworks.
In Florida, OTOH, I got some much cooler stuff (rockets, missiles, tanks, aerials, shells, mines etc.) in the Clearwater phantom fireworks showroom, http://www.fireworks.com/locations/showroom.asp?lid=9, they have a special that you can get any identical items for only 99¢.

As for here in Canada, much less selection :(

In most States in Australia it is illegal...but I think in the Northern Territory you need to have a licence but I'm not sure.

Dangerous things firecrackers....someone once threw one at me and blew a whole in my brand new skirt. :mad: No damage done to me luckily.

fireworks aren't illegal for adults to purchase in my area. what's illegal is using them within city limits or when there's a burn ban going on.

Fireworks are perfectly legal here, but expensive as hell.

Too funny! They are illegal in Ohio but sold in regular firework stores all over as long as you swear you are taking them out of the state to use. :1orglaugh

We're only allowed sparklers, smoke bombs and flares I think are legal. (listening to a neighbor shoot off 8" rockets right now :-( the idiot)

It's illegal to shot off fireworks in the city limits where I live. There are exceptions such as poppits/snappits, smoke bombs & sparklers. You can be any age to buy fireworks. Bottle rockets have been outlawed here but many people go to Missouri & bring them back.

Like the other Texan who posted its illegal in the city limits, but drive 15 minutes real fast in any direction and you can buy them, i have my stash here...for tomorrow night

They're illegal where I live, but that didn't stop my whole neighborhood from setting off mortars and cheesy bottle rockets all night long. Pretty nice show, lol.

Spain legal.....funny thing here is that you hear and see fireworks
all year through, weddings, birthdays, partys, any type of
celebration.......but......there is absolutely no fireworks on New
years eve....

Since I'm Dutch and went to Spain in October I didn't knew
so when I was bombing the place when the clocl struck midnight
people looked very weird.....like I was totally out of my mind.

Last weekend we were on the gold coast, and down at the beach they exploded 750,000 fireworks at once, it was a world record attempt. For weeks before that they were lighting up the sky with fireworks synched to the beat of music for the fireworks championships. Amazing stuff!
